I just press the gas a lot. The clutch is overrated. Just put the car in first, and turn the key. It will start rolling a little, then just gas it, and hold it til you hit the redline on your gauge cluster, and slam it in second, and keep doing that til you get to fifth.

Seriously, you dont need a clutch. Besides, when you do your swap, it will save you some time and money too.

Casey if my car was not in pcs over in gainesville at the moment I would teach ya.

Climb in put clutch in turn car on. Then put it in first or reverse. Then slowly let the clutch out till you see the rpm drop and feel it start to engage. That will be the point at which you would want to give it some gas so it wont stall. Then just fuck with it til you figure it out.

so like u have to engage the clutch to put it in gear? i thought you just had to push the clutch in when you had to shift...

Pretty much anytime you move the shifter you need to press the clutch. It just takes time to understand what the hell is going on. Push clutch put it in 1st gear (hold clutch in) get on the gas and stay on it and start to release the clutch slowly, if you just pull off the clutch hard it will spin tires. Then just get off the gas and on the clutch when you need to change gears, then once your in the gear you need get back on the gas and come off the clutch easy.

Hell, I went to buy my VR4 when I was 17 not knowing at all how to drive a stick. Watched what he did when we took a test drive, and thats it. Drove it all the way back from Orlando.

My first car was an Integra 5spd and I didnt know how to drive a stick. I got pulled over 3 times on the way home for burning out. After not once getting a ticket I realized that the excuse, "but officer I dont know how to drive a stick" would get me out of lots of trouble in the future.

he screwed up his left knee playing soccer or basket ball a while back.
like his knee cap broke in half. so he has trouble walking. the guys he got his motor from gave him an auto tranny for free and bought his manual back.
they also gave him the auto ecu. and other junk i think.
its tight. hes gonna build it and the advantage he has... open throttle through the drag. no bov when shifting :)

i thought about boosting the auto for fun. i might even swap the auto back in just for shiz and giggles one day. once i get used to driving a 5 speed.
times would definatly drop in drag.

oh. well I feel like an ass now. THe only swapped auto I ever saw was driven by a guy in a wheelchair, that's why I asked. At least he can drive, I'm out of commission for a few more days.

my neighbor came over one day when i was 15 (a long time ago) and said that he was going to take me out in his turbo Porsche to teach me how to drive stick. i was shocked of course but he said that if i could drive a manual Porsche that i could drive anything, and he's right i haven't had a problem since then.

Auto supras do make great drag cars. Did you know that Hulk Hogan actually has a 700hp auto supra? It uses a chevy tranny and rear end but it still has the 2jz motor. Just food for thought.

Seriously, I saw Nick try to drift at formula D and he sucked. But I give him props for trying.

Brit, I think that the fact you found your supra in a barn makes it that much more ballin! You should just look around for full jdm turbo 2jz manual clips. Might make things simpler, and from what I found a few years ago which may be completely irrelevent, might be a whole lot cheaper.

i learned to drive stick in middle skool in my brothers datsun 280z the first time tryin it was when i stole the keys when noone was home and i tried puttin it in gear let go of the clutch and the car stalled and i got scared and ran in the house cuz i thought i broke it ahhaa but he taught me after i told him about that

ill teach you how to drive stick as long as you find the car to learn in :goodjob:

The very first 5spd car I drove was an s14, then I really learned on my old hatch.

I'm buying a reman engine from my job, and will prob just find a used 6spd somewhere...98% of the clips are from Aristos, which means of course they're autos.

haha, i suck at driving auto's too. I always forget to put it in park whenever I turn the key off, and then I can't figure out why the key won't come out of the ignition. I do always remember to pull the e-brake up though.

At the moment I thinking JWT cams, SAFC II, throttle baby spacer, runner extender, better clutch, and see what happens after that. Hoping for ~200. With JIC coilovers, 4 point lower tie bar, trunk brace, rear strut tower bar, Front sway bar, motor mount poly fab, and maybe a frame reinforcement thing. Right now saving for coilovers and cams.

Those cams dont work real well for boost I have been told so I might ditch those if I decide for some low boost. Plus this thing tq steers like a mother fucker so above 250 would be kinda sucky til bout 4th gear...
