i decided i'd try a different clutch (mostly cause i didn't have much money at the time):ohnoes:

well i actually did some research and they had good reviews so i tried it

the stage 3 sr20det clutch is what i bought for $182 shipped and so far after 3k miles it's gripped pretty hard:goodjob:

still barks 2nd and 3rd and chirps 4th when my gastank is low:superman:

so if you need a good clutch and don't have much money left over the xtds are cheap and very well

I agree, I've had a few of them now and have put a few in for people for the reason they're cheap and seem to be half decent.

I dunno though, this last one I had in my Rb was a pile to be honest, traded with a kid for a different one. The one in my Ka now though is great. Overall I can't complain, but like I said I have seen some of them not perform as well as others since I've driven a few cars with em now.

When I had my RB I had alot of stuff done to it so it would have quick spool/high rev. Built for drifting. 8500 Redline, and all I wanted was 300 whp, and I dynoed 310. But that clutch sucked in it. Would slip all the time. And chattered like hell. The one in the Ka I have now is eh... My roommate did the five speed swap for this kid, is in love with xtd clutches, told him to buy it blah blah blah, 4 months later kid sells his car at a steal of a price and I buy it. So now I have another xtd and I'm not a huge fan. It's decent for a six puck but I've drove better.

i have on in my KA, i did 4 drift event's on the stock one and it finally started slipping pretty bad. so i wanted to get a stock one and a buddy of mine had one for a 240 but sold the car and was like "here you go" haha. Straight gave me it i was like ok, it was the XTD Stage 3 clutch came with pressure plate, and bearings. so i put that jewel in. Did one event on it and it grabbed so good....................................Big D

XTD is the ebay brand clutch. This trend to get everything as cheap as possible sickens me. Your helping China increase our trade deficit.

Junk, no quality control cant be good. Good luck with a untested 15lb rotating hunk of metal right by your feet.

Lol. Funniest part about that is according to my old roommate, and he showed me a long time ago when I was like dude, I'm not putting a piece of shit clutch in my car when I put so much money into the motor, part of it is made by exedy or clutchmaster or some legit company. Then they just fuck it all up from there.

Now, all I was saying is that there is a reason things are cheap, especially when they are less than half the price of the real product.

I have seen a few XTD clutches, there pretty junky and I wouldnt trust one in my car. Risky.

The disk is likely to be made by Exedy, they make OEM disk and disk for ACT and hundreds of other companies, but the dangerous shitty part is the pressure plate.

i mean i can understand the want to have quality parts, no doubt. but for me its a drift car, yea i want it to look good, but performance comes before any looks in my book and it was free and eventually when i gets a career after school ima have the means probably to build a nice ass car. until then, cheap shit and used tires daddy!!!!!!

That contradicts the usage of a bad quality part.

I get it though, you used it because it was free.

Thanks, at least I don't feel dumb for my statement then. So are they really that bad? I mean I understand the arguement with price etc.... but I spend money when its not worth being cheap. I mean I don't plan on keeping this for long, just a temporary, but why do you say dangerous out of curiousity? Clutches aren't really my thing so info would be nice.

damn yous right my bad, i didn't mean to come off shitty with you in my first post lol i just read it again, but honestly thats the only thing i've had to replace since i started sliding it haha. so "knock on wood" hopefully thats the only thing until i have funds to do stuff nice lol. but i know what your saying i really wanted just a Spec Stage 1 they hold up to i think 350 wheel which is more than my car will see for a while lol.............................

Im not saying they are definitely dangerous, but if I was going to guess between two clutches that were going to come apart at 8K rpms I would pick the cheap fake clutch.

Haha ok, well the kid who bought my old Rb is a knob anyways, and hasn't any clue how to drive a car, let alone what he bought off me. So I'll let you know if he fucks up the trans/himself whenever he revs it to redline and forgets to shift like I've seen him do. :ninja:

I agree.

Stay away from these flywheels, too. This is kind of off topic, but people usually replace flywheels when they replace clutches...so, hear me out...

These "cheap" companies also make flywheels. Most people don't realize how important a good quality, good balanced flywheel is. Not only do you risk damage to your transmission housing and your car, but you risk bodily injuries as well.

That's why they make scatter shields. Scatter shields are there to protect you, but I wouldn't risk it.

Would you want to say your leg was severed off because you tried save a buck by buying a cheap flywheel?

Not me.

People said the same shit about Megan, now look at the company.

Bottom line is, a company can only monopolize on a product for so long, then others will catch on. Some companies are able to produce the same quality cheaper and sell their product cheaper to stay in competition with the higher up brand, while others cut corners and jack up the price, but still maintain a lower price for easy selling. It all depends on the company really..

I've heard all good reviews for XTD personally. I would consider them if money was an issue.

Tom had a Stage 3 XTD on his KA-t car. broke it in, did three runs at OSW second gear on the apron, 4th run third on the bank, slipped like it was some beat ass old clutch.
I had a Stage 3 xtd on my 2871r SR car. Broke it in, lasted 3 events, 4th event went to do third on the bank and did the same as toms.
Tom bought a brand new Spec stage 3 and its holdin just fine. Some kid gave me a Spec stage 3 with like 5,000 miles on it, and its holdin just fine. The XTD flywheels though, are the absolute shit. Soooo good.

Scoob, I want to see a picture of your car. You've said that you don't like to be "ghetto" and now you're saying that people shouldn't spend money on lower quality parts...

You must drive a piece of art. Let's see it.

Well, not everyone has money right when they need it. I mean...I know better than to cheap out on vital shit. What's the worse that could go wrong with my gauge cluster? I actually don't recall on anything ever failing on my car that I've done myself except an oil feed line that had to be rigged because it was on my DD and I HAD to get to work/school. I found out the hard way to do oil lines right...hahaha my damn car caught on fire. It was pretty amazing. Lesson learned.
