First, I say... "I'm going to do something really stupid!" then I jerk the wheel hard in one direction and then back the other way, while clutch kicking and flooring it... and pulling up the e-brake...
True story.

its hard to explain. you gotta feel the weight transfer to the rear and know how much to clutch kic or power over or whatever.
you gotta get the feel of it.

get going about 40-50mph (i'm just a beginner and not very good yet, so i keep the speed down)
push the clutch in
turn the wheel
yank the ebrake
close my eyes and pray
and then i usually cry a little bit when it's all over
..and then get back in line to do it again

all you gotta do is hold the throttle down, and take corners
depending on your suspension settings that can result in some nasty understeer.

glad to hear your excited about learning. but if you are serious about learning come to Kiss Kiss 2/14 and learn there. we will have instructors on site. killing cones is the point ;), that why the volunteers are there. The night stuff will honestly take you a lot longer to get decent. we do practice days to get better. EVERYONE spins and no one cares or laughs. If you need some advice or whatever PM me.

i lost my license, so my girl is driving me down, and the back seat will be filled with tires, so i dont think that will work.

i normally close my eyes kick the clutch, let the car get side ways, let go of the steering wheel, wait 3/4s of a second, catch it again, then open my eyes.

It is best to let go of the wheel initially... Being that it's an S-chassis... it knows how to steer into a drift better than you do... the driver is like the S-AFC... fine tuning

as suprising as that may sound to some that is true
now dont jump onto me or bitch at me, im just saying thats all.
its pretty cool to turn the wheel, kick the clutch and watch (out of a peripheral sort of view) the steering wheel spin the other way
counter steer donuts are the way i found out how/why it does that, and i must say it is the coolest thing ever.
raulck_hn17
01-23-2009, 01:47 AM
agree but i dont think its very good for the steering components
xXxJohnnyxXx
01-23-2009, 01:49 AM
well that is true, but in my opinion its better then trying to force the steering wheel over. but like i said my opinion.

I dont see how letting the wheels caster themselves is hard on the steering componants unless you let the wheel spin all the way untill it stops.
This is actually the ONE improvement Ive made that has helped me out ass loads ^_^

from my experiance were almost about right,
not to say im wrong or your wrong or any of that stuff.
just from me, i bought a 240 with an aftermarket steering wheel and yes its a crappy one, and when i go to slide it or counter steer it,
the steerring wheel looses alignment. instead of perfectly centerd it will be rotated to the left a little bit and be "in the center" so to say.

I was also surprised at this the first time I went sliding in my coupe. I wanted to counter streer myself but the car did it better by itself

find an empty lot. and learn how your car responds to every imput.
beat the hell out of yourself and the car while driving it. it will give you a better understanding and then most things will become involuntary.

SLy, Go to the Malibu meet and to Kiss Kiss. You'll learn alot more by asking people there and watching than asking questions on this retarded forum.
