head cores for sr20det go for more than that. its not a motor where you can just pic it up from the junkyard. i have a built head if you are interested. its done. port polish, valves cut, springs reatiners, titanium.

it doesnt matter if you work at a machine shop. its not something you want to just do unless there are plenty of experience behind it. plus, you dont need a head unless you are pushing serious power. even still, not necessary.

your head with the right trbo setup can push 600. using same manifold, fuel rails etc... spring and retainers are adviced to be swapped out. but thats about it. its nice to have but not necessary.

its not cheap but you always have the option of one that is already done . :)

with the sr20de head work if you put all the turbo setup in it?

core for head goes for about 250 and up.
totally stripped.
then port and polish by a pro is gonna be 250-350.
spring and retainers are another 250-450 bucks depending.
valves cut are about 16 to 25 dollars each.
you have 16 of them. then you need cams.
250-700 bucks.
new rocker arms are 30-40 each.
you have 8.
retainers and shims are extra.
solid lifters can go for about 250-400
