I am looking at buying a Viper alarm system for my car because my mom is really stressing it especially since I'll be going to college soon. The more she mentions it the more I realize she has a point. Does anyone have any experience with Viper alarms? I am looking at the one with the LCD remote that works up to a 1/4 mile away from the car and tells you on the remote whether all your doors are locked or not etc.

When I get it it will have a remote start since I still have my auto ECU. I will have it installed at an audio place probably. Maybe BestBuy since they are a certified Viper retailer/installer and the warranty will void if I don't use a certified retailer/installer.

from what ive seen best buy does some shizzy jobs at installing stereos... go to a car audio place that is certified or whatever

i've seen best buy mess up a remote starter 3 times in a row on my buddy's car.
when he finally got it workin, it was great. only thing was he had to replace the batteries every 2 weeks or somethin like that.
conclusion: viper alarms=good bestbuy=bad

viper systems are pretty straight forward. most DEI stuff is that way. (viper, clifford, rattler, etc.) if you want something cool try the clifford 70.5x tht ones got the mile range and a rechargeable remote.
not to toot my own horn or anything, but FRYs here in alpharetta does good RS/alarm stuff. and walks all over BB:graypirate:

I have used that exact alarm. I installed it myself. Works good. The remote battery does die pretty often (every few weeks), but it is just a AAA; not a big deal.

I got my Viper system at Best Buy..
Works great and never had any problems with it or with the car after it was done. My remote has never died on me and I've had it for like 3-4 months at least..
I'm closest to the one on Hwy 78.. Installer is Jeremy and he knows his shit..
I love mine. Go for it.

my swapped 97 civic had a viper system on it, as weird as this sounds i liked the viper security system on it, even though the car was stolen! (thieves had a tow truck)
But besides that, i think that Viper makes pretty good systems, I would get one again.
