is there a fuse in the back of the head unit itself? also make sure you have a good ground.
Get out the multimeter and check for power on the red and yellow.
Check that fuse on the back as well
And check the ground.

are you grounded good? is the ignition switch on, is there a wire shorting. its the dumb/ small things that make things difficult

i checked the lil fuse in the back of the radio and its fine.
i think i might be wiring it wrong. i wanted to know what wires go where.

pioneer harness:
black ground to chassis
yellow constant 12v
red switched 12v
this is for the 240 w/ a standard rdo get the mains first i suppose and like the others said, meter the wires to confirm voltage
1991-92 Nissan 240 SX Stereo Wiring Constant 12V+Red/Black Switched 12V+ Blue Ground Chassis Illumination Red/Blue Dimmer Red/Yellow Antenna Left Rear Front Speakers 4" x 6" Doors Left Front (+) Blue/White Left Front (-) Blue/Yellow Right Front (+) Brown Right Front (-) Brown/White Rear Speakers 6 1/2" Rear Deck Left Rear (+) Red Left Rear (-) Green Right Rear (+) Blue Right Rear (-) Pink thks to the12volt use at own risk
i just had the same problem and found out i had a shitty ground.
new ground=problem solved

did you cut the radio harness if so don't touch the harness wires together it might blow the circuit board that controles your dash lights and all that and you won't have dash lights

do you have the active speaker logo on your door aspeakers???
if so you have to use the ground (black wire) from your radio harness and ground it to a bolt i used the tranny. if your using a connector and are not splicing it to your harness you have to do that because there is no ground on the harness thats why you use the chasis or tranny. also you have to splice all your amp turn on and remote wires (blue) you have together to make the amp in your car to work so it can send sound to your speakers.
