View Full Version : Will Z32 Brakes Clear SE's

My question is whether 30mm Z32 brakes will clear S13 SE alloys. I saw this on the 240SX tech page:
30mm iron or aluminum calipers will NOT fit these wheels w/o spacers. Sorry.
Nissan produced two types of s-13 se wheels over the years, and there is not really any determining factor regarding which cars received them. To put it in SilBeer's words, its all based on "luck of the draw."
Wheels that clear brakes look like this:

Has anyone heard of this? I am about to go out and check my wheels to see if they are the same as the one in the top picture.

Well I just took pics of the inside of my wheel and they are just like the top picture. There really is a difference between those two different designs of the S13 SE's and it is understandable that the bottom one would not fit, while the top one is much thinner.

If I get Z32 brakes here are my Goodridge SS lines that will be for sale:

Here is the main reason why I want new brakes. I painted them without taping anything off and got paint on everything and it crystalized the rotors and pads:

I WILL get Z32 brakes. When I do I will sell you the fronts since I won't do the backs. They really are great. And I will ask Andy if I can test fit my wheels on his car, I think he has spacers. But I looked all over the Nico forums and I found a few people saying that there are 2 kinds, the good ones (in the top pic), and the bad ones (bottom pic). I guess I just got lucky and ended up with the better, more rare one.

I just read online that without a spacer, even the top rim doesn't fit 30mm, but the top one does with 26mm without a spacer, so Andy, if my wheel fits yours then it's 26mm, if not, they are 30mm.

if you end up getting z32 calipers in a few months i might trade you and get myself a set of 30mm aluminum calipers. i have the 26mm calipers so by your info if the 30's dont clear my 26's will. but im 5 lug so youd have to redrill the rotors. id sell them to you for the low when i do the swap. the 30mm is just less prone to brake fade but a little heavier.

If I'm going to do something like this, I'm going to do it right the first time. Get 30mm aluminums, bead blast them, powder coat them, rebuild, SS lines, Hawk pads, and Brembo rotors. Done.
