gtfo of best buy.

motorized cd players are kinda pointless imo

i personally like the Alpine 9886 check it out
i also like Pioneer's stuff as well, very user friendly

i think some of the pioneer premier cd plaers have a motorized faceplate if thats what you're lookin' for

Anything Kenwood.
I've had the same headunit that I've used in about 6 different cars over the course of 4 years, and never really had an issue with it.

I have a pioneer premier deh-780mp HU. Best HU I've ever owned, unfortunately i believe they have recently discontinued it. It has everything you are looking for as far a HU goes. You might be able to find one on ebay though. Good luck!

lol whats the point of having a tiny 3 inch screen? lol

so he can jerk it to the 3" screen instead of holding his ipod while he drives.

My Alpine is about that old as well and it's still ticking...the iPod adapter is giving me some trouble right now but it's an easy replacement.

I like the Alpine units because you can download parameter settings for your system based on some basic measurements in your cabin:
http://i-personalize.alpine.com/cgi-local/i-Personalize/common/ip_menu.pl

Plus they have iPod adapters as well:

I have a Modifry DCI controller available that will allow your factory controls to work with an aftermarket stereo.

$50 if you want it.

just get a kenwood or an alpine.

you can do either of three things for an ipod.

1) Buy a unit that has a front rca INPUT or 3.5mm jack in front and it will plug into the headphone section of your Ipod. (no recharging during driving)

2)Buy the cigarette lighter FM transmitter for 26 bux at Circuit City and play it through a blank fm station. Will charge your ipod and play music all at same time.

3)BUy the optional headunit specific AUx adapter that comes with the recharge plug sou can play thorugh aux source but still charge your ipod. rather than just aux source and no charge if you use RCA ior 3.5mm inputs. The one i am buying for my kenwood is 45 bux. Price will vary between headunit manufacturers

I got a brand new one from ebay for $69. If you like 96.1 then you will love 96.2 HD. Also, with HD, you can still get 99X. I got a bluetooth adapter microphone for $40 and it works just like sync, it uses the stereo speakers.

Whats really cool is one day I forgot my mp3 and regular cds and I was out of HD radio range and everything else was crappy (driving up towards SC). So, I just streamed all the music I had on my cell phone to the radio. It sounded almost as good as from a cd; had to turn up the volume a bit more though.

I actually just want the aux input for an ipod.

I don't want it to be a shitty HU either.

I'm gonna look at some pioneer HU and see what fits me budget.
I was looking around and there was some adapter that lets me run aux input off the stock radio, but it was $100 after shipping.

I'd rather get a decent HU.

deh-p600ub, right?

does it come with those cables?
I think i'd get the 600ub.. cheaper than 700bt and it got organic display versus single line.

i would highly recomend the avic series... you can get a little older flipout or even a d-din for a great price. i have a pioneer with the ipod cable to the headunit and love it. i can control my entire ipod with the remote for my headunit. great option. and if you buy a pioneer, i got a sirius setup for pioneer for sale

i got that pioneer in the vw..everything is amazing on it, except the ipod interface..however i think it was my user error that made it so difficult.
It is however the best ipod interface on a single din that i have used, its just hard to scroll through a ton of songs on about 3 lines

As far as looks, mine's not amazing. It's one color, no lcd shit. It is iPod capable, plus it has an 1/8th inch jack and usb on the front. Throw some mp3s on a flash drive and go. Also works for phones that have mini USB and a microsd.
