With the car off, when I drop the e-brake the light goes away. As soon as I start it the light turns on and stays on. Brake fluid is full. Not sure what else to check. Any ideas?

check the little button by the ebrake, you can see it, try sticking a screw driver or something and psh it in more, and see if the ebrake light goes off. may need some adjstment if it does..other than that. i would just use some electrical tape.

to cover the light.

I checked that. THe light turns off when the e-brake is down with the car off. As soon as I turn the car on (with the e-brake off) the light comes on. I fiddled with the lil float for the brake fluid and that did nothing. Its not stuck tho. I'm kinda a perfectionist when it comes to things like this. I WILL figure out why the light is on... :)

How is your Alt doing? When your alt takes a shit, and your car runs on very low power, the brake light tends to stay on.

That also could be your starting problem.

his alt is taking a shit too...lol....maybe you need to rest it for a while and give it a bath.

Maybe when you pressure washed his bay, the Battery sensing wire got unhooked or broken from the alt. That would cause it not to know when to charge right? So maybe its only charging at higher RPMs?

Or would the alt not work at all when that wire is loose/disconnected?

You might just be right. The battery light is on just the tinyest bit. I can see it at night. That would make sense. Maybe I'll try putting jumper cables on it and see if that makes a difference.

It does need a bath. On the outside atleast. You cleaned the SHIT out of the vroom vroom.

Hah yah...

How odd would it be if both our alternators took a poo at the same time...

Found something on freshalloy. Looks like this might solve my problem. I'm gonna run down and check it out in a moment...

is your battery light half lit up? i found an engine control fuse in my s13 that fixed that problem. under the hood in the passenger side fuse box

My battery light is half lit up so it looks likely.

The problem was Engine Control Fuse under the hood on the passenger side. It also fixed my starting problem and the dim battery light problem!

My old s13's battery light stayed on most of the time, and would randomly turn off for a couple minutes. I never figured out what the problem was, but now I know.
