I took mu car to steve to get wome wiring done (1JZ). the wiring was a not in very good condition but steve agreed to do it for 800$...i thought "ok this will be good"... to make a long story short steve used half a roll of electrical tape to "RE-DO" The majority of the clips. and charged me 600$ when i get back to my job to inspect his "work" i come to find out he had done nothing but taped up my wires... so bascially im trying to say...

I will agree with Bean on this, if you weren't happy upon pickup, that is the time to deal with those things. Once the cash has changed hands, and everything should be cool, its no one's fault but the owner of the car.

Bottom line, Ben, if you weren't happy with it, or had no time to check it out, should have went at another time when you had time to check it out, or said at that point, that you were not paying for the labor, and dealt with it then.

I can understand what Casey means, but as far as business is concerned, Fernando is good in my book. Came on time, and paid in full when I sold him a motor, so I can't complain on that note.

Steve has a point, in Ben's situation, its really his own fault more than anyone's.

But as for learning how to confront anyone without being hostile, Steve really needs to learn that more than about anyone, but that is beside the point.

But this thread is pointless, and Steve has every reason not to refund a cent. If Ben wasn't happy when he picked it up, cash should have never exchanged hands, and it should have been dealt with then.

I understand the principle that the car should have been done, and done correctly, but, when the owner of the car doesn't check it out, that is not Steve's fault, that is solely the owners.

I know personally, if I were to work on someone's car, and let them know exactly what was done, and they said "Alright, we're cool, its good to me", and handed me cash, only to weeks/months later, come back and try and blast me online, theres no way in Hell I'd refund anything, whether thats shitty or not, I don't know. And if I were a customer, and wasnt happy, there would not have been a cent paid, and my car would have been brought home at that moment, period.

And as much as I never thought I'd say this, I understand, and can almost agree completely with Steve on this one, as to why he didn't give a refund at all, as long as the OP on here has been completely honest about the situation.

It still sucks he payed $600 for a roll of electrical tape. I agree it should have been inspected before he picked it up and not payed untill then, but if it is true that all he did was tape up his wires and thats it, sounds like he was out to screw you from the get go, or he really doesn't know what he is doin. All splices, especially on toyota's should be soldered and heat shrinked, the slightest amount of resistance effects the ecu. If the harness was not savable, then ben should have been informed that a new harness will be needed, and a new estimate should have been presented reflecting a new harness and labor. BUT, by paying the shop responsible for the repairs, before inspecting their work, you basically said that you accept their work and their is no problem. But most shops, including the one I work at, will redo work if it is indeed poor quallity and sub par, in which case, this wiring job sounds sub par and only reflects the work of the shop that it was repaired at. If they cared about customer satisfaction or pride in their work at all, it should not have been delivered in the state that ben said it was in.

How many times have you guys bought something and paid for it before knowing it was good? Seriously, you can spout this crap about 'well, he shouldn't have paid him', but when it comes down to it if any of you bought something for $600 and got $2.00 worth of product that didn't work you would be PISSED, period. I had my wiring harness done for my SR at tophat, yeah it looked good when I picked it up, but did I really know if it would work? Not to mention I paid around 2 grand for an SR motorset that I had never heard run. All I had to go on was the good word of the seller.
