View Full Version : AWD Turbo Diesel Truck Vs. Duke's Spec V

No it wasnt on the highway, this shit went down from a DIG.

Yes the FWD guy said dig...

Dont worry, the other guys that witnessed it thought it was funny to.

So the driver of the truck and I were discussing that I put about 3 cars on my buddy Vance (lighter modded Spec V with skinny tires) from a dig. He calls bullshit because he puts about that much on Vance from a dig, and I told him that I do. I have more done and more grip, and the a couple of the other guys are now going well run 'em.

The demographic of this group was as follows.

1 GTO owner
1 Fox body owner
2 CRX guys 1 normally drives a 60s camero
1 old school muscle car guy

The 2 honda guys are going WTF are you thinking, it is AWD turbo diesel you are going to get RAPED.

The fox body owner thinks it is funny because he likes watching the big truck kill things.

The GTO guy is like I dunno dude he has 245s and a side exit, it might mean alil more business than Vance.

The old school muscle car guy is just laughing because the guy in the truck is very confident.

Terms are. ~250 foot race from a dig. Who ever passes the flagger first wins. We are seperated by about 50 feet so it was safe.

So they say run 'em so I start walking to my car, and the guy with the truck is confused cas the FWD isnt pussing out on a dig run.

So we line up for our first run. He jumps the start, I fuck the shit out of my launch plus cold tires. I get ass raped, no lube.

So I demend a rematch, so we line up again. The peanut gallery thinks I need a head start so they give me a car length. I go, I get a GREAT launch. I put about 1 car on the truck.

Every is sitting there going WTF the sentra won?

So he wants another one, so we line up for the 3rd time. We are leaving at the same time this run. So flagger drops arms, truck driver forgets to select the D from his automatic tranny (with slap stick) and launches backwards. Yes backwards. I stop my car and roll out of the seat laughing, all of the spectators are rolling on the ground crying. I win... lol

So we line up for 4th and final run. The moment of truth. I get a GREAT launch, truck gets a good one to and manages to go forward. Both of us come off the line hard, I am about a 1\2 car behind him. Once I pop it into 2nd I start to pull on him, but the terms were the ~250 feet where the flagger was so I lose.

I would have had him if it was on a 1\4 mile, and he knew it. We parked and got out and shook hands cas it was fucking fun. He was impressed, he said, "I didnt expect you to pull that hard, what do you have done that makes you that much faster than Vance?" So I show up all the bells and whistles.

So at the end of the day between 4 runs it was Spec V: 2 Truck: 2

And damn it was fucking fun. lol

The honda guys were still confused... lol

The issue is that the track in operated during my hours of work, and it is a good 65 mile drive from anywhere. If there were more track, there would be car meets at the tracks instead of in parking lots. The counties and state dont understand this concept and they are the ones that are in a sense condoning this type of activity.

Was the driver of the truck an asian or indian female driver?! Holy FAIL Batman! How the hell do you go the wrong direction for a race?! Just curious, did the truck even load up the tranny before y'all launched? Was the truck stock and what truck was it exactly?

Decent kill, but I would have been more impressed if the driver had one quarter of a brain........

Reminds me of a kill with my Sentra. I was in MI and there was a crap load of snow on the road. My buddy with a 4wd Silverado lines up next to me laughing at the thought of running. The light turns green and my tires spin for a tiny bit and then I launch like a bat out of hell, much to the dismay of my buddy! lol

He did not realize that I had special winter tires that supposedly (IIRC) had special chemically activated tread that activated when hot (aka spinning). So, snow or no snow, no contest!

Street racing kills a microcosm of very unlucky people... I'm not going to pull the numbers, but I'm going to say more people are killed because of cell phones every day than street racing kills in an entire year.

And I'm sure I'm right about that... maybe 3 days of cell phone related deaths... no more than a week.

There's street racing that kills people, and there's the other kind of street racing... you have to know where you can, and where you can't.

Sure, track is better... but street is street.

Speaking of street and track racing I have been thinking of an idea for a little while. The thing that pisses me off about track racing is that I can be there all night and only get a handful of runs. Any changes to suspension, tuning, etc can be negated by the long time between runs. (ex. temperature, humidity changes, the idiot who went down the whole track spraying misc fluids all over the place)

Anyway, my whole purpose for going to the track is to work on my 60-foot times, which is the most important part of the race. A good 60 foot time will embarass a lot of people on the street and at the strip.

I am thinking setting up a DIG school. Like buying some 60 foot timing equipment and having people just run that all day. That way people have plenty of oppurtunities to change tire pressure, adjust the suspension, etc. Also, it would be pretty safe, since you would only be going about 40mph.

So would anybody be down with this idea? Also, where do you think a good place to have this would be? lol Theoritically, this could be done in an undeveloped neighborhood with fresh pavement (if it was isolated from the po-po)...... But, where do you think we could do this?

Nah it isnt that guy I dont think. It is the guy with a whole lot of tats drives a REALLY clean black fox body with cobra wheels. He talks really big as long as it is a dig run, but when i comes to highway he backs down alot. Always comes to BP or park and ride but no where else. His car actually runs really well.

He actually ran last night though. He didnt make any excuses other than his car is actually set up for an 1\8 mile. He shook the honda dudes hands and said good run after he got beat. Then he said I want to run you guys from a dig, and they started making excuses about slicks. Ya he has 2 step, so it might be the same guy.

He did look kinda upset that he lost to some hondas though.

Yeah my intentions was to do this to figure some things out that has a lot of mixed opinions on things, such as suspension set-ups. Common sense tells you that you would want to set your shocks hard in the front and soft in the back. However, I have talked to some relatively fast KA-T guys and they do just the opposite. All of the cars I have had in the past, the suspension was non-adjustable. However, I heard some hard core rwd guys disconnect their rear sway bar for better 60 foots.

I think I have been drag racing long enough to give people really good tips. For example, I had awesome 60 foots with my Sentra. One trick that I did was jack up the rear end of the car and put some rubber spacers in the springs. The car rode like shit down the road, but I believe it reduced weight transfer to the back for launches.

Yeah I assumed it was the opposite... for drag... soft rear doesn't seem like it would help you get the torque to the ground... wasting it moving the whole car...

For the front I'd only want stiffer in the front relative to the weight of the motor... but not stiffer than the rears in general...

I bet, you dont curse and yell at a man or woman with mace, a taser, a gun, and handcuffs. That is just a BAD idea.

I am nice to the police as long as they arent rude to me, and I most def dont curse at them.

The pepper spray, gun.... whatever, has nothing to do with it. While at work, I don't do anything to give someone a reasonable right to do that, therefore when it happens, its completely uncalled for.
Those who know me, know I'm usually calm and collected until the time comes not to be. In the same respect, I show everyone equal respect, until the time comes not to as well.

I was at a job fair several years ago and they posted up the various salaries for sheriffs with different levels of education. I was shocked and dismayed how little they paid officers. If I had to work as hard as them and get paid as little as they do, I would be very disgruntal too.

I really think cops should get a better pay scale, perhaps they would not be as big of jerks for 99% of time law abiding people and only be jerks to the real criminals.

For example this cop kept coming over where I lived trying to serve some papers to my roomate. My roomate was korean and did not speak much english. Heck I did not even know his name! lol Anyway he come came over several times asking for him and he was never there. He was like do you know so and so? I was like I am not sure what the guys name is. He was like how the hell do you not know the name of your roomate?!

He came over several other times and accused me of lying that he was not there?! WTF The dude worked afternoons/nights, so I never saw him there.

Its today's society, and the few officers that give us all a bad name. These days everyone hates cops... why? They don't even know, its just burned into their brain that all cops are bad. Thats why I have people going off on me on a daily basis, because its my fault that they got arrested for beating their wife, raping their daughter, or ect...

I just dont like speeding tickets... lol

The cops that give one a bad name are the guys that pull someone over and start accusing them of everything under the sun without having any sort of reason why. I drove by an oak cop the other day doing 50 in a 45, I was accused of DUI, running from the police, and doing 70 in a 45. Of course I didnt get a ticket cas I wasnt drunk, nor was a running (he would have been able to track me down by using his ears from a mile away.), and I was doing 5 over so obivisouly he didnt have any thing saying I was going 70. I called and issued a complient about that dude.

raping should be a death penelty.

Honestly, Forsyth pays quite a bit more than most agencies, but it still isn't a lot by any means. It really isn't the pay. While at work, finances don't cross my mind once while I'm there because I love what I do, I have fun. I go in and do extra stuff on my days off, just because it is fun, and I have no problem doing it for free. I also do a LOT of homework at home with the local gangs to keep them in check, for free. So see, money really isn't a factor when you love what you do.

So how many officers enjoy what they do regardless of the money they make?

Compared to how many that bitch about their salary?

I can't answer that..... There are keys to making it fun and different. Not all of them take advantage of it, and those are the ones who are.... "abrasive" so to speak.

Infinite
08-30-2008, 11:39 PM
its only illegal if the hooker calls the cops

now why would she do that if she is sitting in a whorehouse?

Lukepeavy
08-30-2008, 11:41 PM
this is a little late in the conversation i know, but i was told in defensive driving school (for a speeding ticket) that you aren't required to stop for an unmarked car because it might be someone posing as a cop.

Infinite
08-30-2008, 11:45 PM
cars have to be marked in order to issue traffic citations

letters must be reflective, 6" tall and placed on 3 sides of the vehicle

Lukepeavy
08-30-2008, 11:47 PM
so then you wouldn't be able to be pulled over by the new tahoes?

Infinite
08-30-2008, 11:49 PM
theoretically no
if they are unmarked

Lukepeavy
08-30-2008, 11:53 PM
huh thought so just thought id check cause it would suck to think you're getting pulled over and then get jumped

Memme
08-31-2008, 01:14 AM
I don't pull over for unmarked cars... that's a rule of mine.

I did it once... but it was mostly because I felt like giving him attitude about being unmarked... and I did... and he wrote me a ticket and let me go... even though I was high as a kite on prescription painkillers...

Infinite

Greg

so then you wouldn't be able to be pulled over by the new tahoes?

Correct, they're for capts and above, meaning that they are basically just take home cars for them.... Just pimped out. They are used sometimes for school traffic in the mornings, accidents, crime scenes.....
Traffic enforcement is only a small portion of what we do.

justjuiceit
08-31-2008, 05:22 AM
So an unmarked car can not pull you over? Hmm.....however this will not stop them for calling their buddies in the area!

Infinite
08-31-2008, 05:41 AM
pretty much
and any off duty law enforcement officer is required to stop for emergencies, etc even when off duty

and plus that whole 25/hr for traffic for private companies isnt bad

oh greg, where can i get the sgt. land stickers? ive been trying to get a few ever since he had his accident when i was an explorer

Greg
08-31-2008, 03:06 PM
Theres not anymore stickers for david... When he was killed, a batch was made, and that was it. I had a few laying around but I gave them out.

Its $35/hr for off-duty jobs ;)

Infinite
08-31-2008, 05:57 PM

Yes we can. Actually, there was one early this morning. 30 min long.
Totalled his car, and came in with a slew of charges. Then decided to spit at us, so he ended up in the restraint chair.

Lukepeavy
09-03-2008, 05:03 PM

Greg

Various traffic charges include fleeing and eluding. Also picked up an obstruction charge in the jail with us

Lukepeavy
09-05-2008, 04:32 PM
