Web server error

Every now and then I will get a 500 Internal Server error when navigating through the site. it seems to happen most often when replying to or viewing PMs.

The error:

An internal server error has occured!

Forgot to mention, refreshing the page will make it reload fine.

I'm making calls to my provider trying to figure out what the problem is. If we've outgrown this one we may have to find something larger and better. I'll keep you all updated as we go. Please bear with me in the mean time...

That helps a lot actually. It's going toward getting a support membership for the site again so we can get more frequent updates.

I think its getting worse, at least it is for me.

Sometimes it takes 20+ refreshes in a row just to move one page and then it does it again with another 20+ refreshes.

If you shop around, web hosting can get pretty cheap for a ton of bandwidth we would never use and great service. Im talking as low as 5-10 a month for more bandwidth than is ever needed.

Well, I did do something to help aleviate that problem for now. I had another site running on the same server that isn't really being used any more except for spammers so I took that down. A good bit of the load may have been coming from there so we will see. I did a few other things as well but getting a beefier server is unavoidable at this point. We've grown so much...

Not quite fixed, just bandaided :). And lol, it makes me laugh too. Thats why I keep it...

UPDATE: The new server is pretty much ready to go, I just have to transfer. I'm coming up with a game plan for the move so we will experience the least amount of down time possible.

Tonight there will be a short down time then once later this week there will be one as well. You all should notice a huge speed difference and no more 500 errors...

More updates as I have them.

I'm good, thanks tho. I've done it many times before too. This time is just tricky because one is a shared server and one is dedicated so I can't use a samba mount or something similar to keep content sync'd so I'm pretty much have to wait for the domain transfer to go through...

Yeah, looks like it may have been mostly the ad system. I re enabled it today and it started happening again. I'm working to fix it now and will most likely be tonight as well...
