View Full Version : 5 speed swap
aright i have almost all the parts...but im debating to either just get a 5 speed ecu and 5 speed lower harness...or just splice the one i have and use the auto ecu....but my question is...if i use the manual ecu....the sensors on the clutch pedal....what are they? and what do they connect to....and if i use the auto ecu...what wires are spliced??? please help :D o and its a sohc....so idk if the 5 speed swap is a lil differnt than the dohc

5 spd ecu and lower harness. and you dont need the sensors. just jump the neutral safety switch by the battery.
aright thanks a lot man! and so everything will run just fine?

pmce you corss the neutral safet switch by the battery yes. you will need a manual ecu to make everything work out right. the tps has 2 plugs on a auto. one of them is unplugged i think. but im not sure which one. its an easy swap though man. takes most guys around an hour or 2.
god the beer is affecting me already...
yeah im pretty confident on the swap...just the wiring...lol just like everyone else i guess

yea dude. i've done quite a few of them. but the duals are my specialty. i don't like the singles. if anyone wants a single block, i have one. come take the motherfucker. clear out my garage.
but the single and the dual is the same swap isnt it???

im talking about s13s. my friend had an issue with the ecu. i had to donate a manual dual ecu. the auto wouldn't let him accelarate.
oOo ok....when i jump the neutral saftey switch..can i start the car without the clutch being down? or will it work like a normal 5 speed?
is the neutral saftey switch the same as the neutral position switch? if so...i jump the switch closest to the shifter?http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/2378/54111028we1.png

yes, you will be able to start without the clutch. and no it is by the battery. on the side of the battery, you'll notice a fusebox. directly DOWN. you will see 3 plugs vertically. its one of those. i think the one in the middle...but its been a while. i'd know if i saw it.
black w/ yellow stripe. white. those 2 wires need to be jumped to bypass the starter lock. single oval grey plug.

not too hard man, just need 2 female connectors i believe. and a section about 4" of wire. and then elec. tape it closed so nothing hangs. usually comes out looking nice.

You can use an auto ECU
It just might run kind of funny
and you'll have a CEL on all the time
