Any suggestions on what to use to turn the rear brake piston? I have a 95, and Ive tried using needle nose pliers to fit the grooves, but it is slowing chipping away and not working at all. Suggestions anyone??? I have a huge ass C clamp that will fit if I can clamp it, but the book said to turn it and im trying to follow the rules :) ok thanks guys :goodjob:

pliers always work for me just push in to it, while you turn

If that doesnt work go to autozone, They have this cube thing u attach to your ratchet so u can twist it in.

Use some channel locks or vicegrips.
Just be careful not to rip the rubber boots on it.

I was able to use a flat head screw driver and fit it in one of the indentations..and spin in, If that doesn t work tap the flat head with ahammer and like the guy said..dont rip the rubber

so i got the cube adapter and compressed one side, but the other seems to be locked up tight. Is this a common problem? Do I need to replace the piston? Im trying to turn the dang thing with all my might and it wont budge! Any help, suggestions with this?

Alot of times its damned near impossible with the cube, I cant count how many times I've busted my hands open using one.

Thats why I said try some vicegrips on the piston above the rubber part.

I hate rear brakes.

That tool is perfect! Where did you get it and what is it called?

Doing it yourself is kinda a pain, but you learn so much and it is enjoyable... im just one compressed piston away from feeling accomplished!:goodjob:

Its hard but i have always used needle nose pliers

You just have to push hard as hell, and grip the crap outta the ridges on the cylinder

Worked hundreds of times for me

Alright... got it... final verdict: be ghetto with the cube thing.

It took a ridiculous amount of pressure to turn that piston, needle nose and vice grips would not suffice. The cube adapter fit correctly, but always wanted to friggin jump out of the fitting, so to solve this I took off the brackets, removed the rotor, and put the brackets back on. I wrapped wire around the two brackets (to keep those slidey bolt things from expanding), put and extension on my wrench with the cube, and used two hands to apply the massive amount of pressure needed. This was so ghetto I in fact took a picture to show, so enjoy... and yes that is my blood strewn upon the metal... this literally took my blood and sweat, and its the first/smallest project on my 240... looking forward to the rest

Thanks for all ya'lls help BTW, much love for 240atlanta

I recall a thread about how much Just Brakes does care (enough to crack your skull), not to mention lack of funds... and my car was already jacked up... but thanks V

no ebrake on... i just relaxed it and put bricks by the tires.... figured that was easier than taking it off... and I didn't mean to say bleed, I meant remove the fluid prior to working on my brakes... Is that a no-no? B/c I'm not to sure about removing the fluid and bleeding and all that stuff. I've been into computers for the longest time and the skills do not really transfer :) Anyone need and technical support LOL

yea ya know I did 3 of them yesterday and could not get the last one for the life of me. When I tried this morning it was not nearly as hard, so I'm thinking pressure the dissipated somewhat over night.
