its making fun of booooost lag

but supras make good torque. it compensates for the lag.

this thread should be titled: SR20

210 is not really good torque. Maybe compared to a 4 Cyl.

But either way, you are waiting until the turbo spools for any real fun.

210??

The 2JZ-GE is a common version. Output is 215 to 230 hp JIS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JIS) (158 to 169 kW) at 5800 to 6000 rpm and 209 to 220 ft.lbf (283 to 298 Nm) of torque at 3800 to 4800 rpm.

You figure if you have a large turbo, that is the torque you will be making until it spools. You can't take a stock 2JZGTE's torque rating, becuase that is with its small turbo's helping. With a larger turbo, it will be just like its NA until then.

How is the power rating of a N/A engine relevant to this thread?

You said that 2j's have a lot of torque, so it makes up for the turbo lag.

Am I correct in understanding that you were meaning that since it has good torque, it makes the lag before the turbo spools bearable?

If so.. Then all the torque it is making, is ~200. Becuase if you were to take a torque reading of a GTE (turbo'ed) it would include the Turbo's power, becuase they spool very quickly.

A larger turbo setup however, will not spool quickly, and will spool later in the RPM range, therefore the motor is running basically NA until that point.

Do you get it?

Ahhhhh. I see what you're sayin. Makes sense.

the 2jz-ge heads are diff than the 2jz-gte heads and the 'non-turbo' numbers may be different ... not much prolly

Regardless, I'm still stickin to my guns. This thread should be titled SR20.

Good. Didn't want to have to try and explain that in a different way. LoL..

And supra's are notorious for having huge turbo's and spooling very late. Thus being labled "Dyno Queens".

Most people with SR's have goals more in the 400 range, which is much more usable power.

Supra owners normally think a big turbo is the answer.

Big turbos make big numbers ... not a big fan.

I guess it all depends on what the purpose of the car is. SRs would most likely be used for drifting (although there are some that have used it specifically for street/drag)

Supras are fast as shit and that's undeniable. They can perform on the dyno, then go to the track and kick ass.

I'm sorry, it seems like I have stepped on your toes a little. That wasn't the point of my post at all.

But if your thing is straight line power, then sure, go with a huge turbo. It won't be a fun car to drive on the street though, and it will unsuitable for any kind of spirited driving on any road besides the highway.

Big power isn't fun unless you get to use it.

By track if you mean Drag Strip, then yes. If you mean Road Course, Autox, Drift, etc, then no, they will suck.

It's all good man. I love drag racing ... I've never tried anything else.

a 62-1 would be a perfect all around turbo. good for about 600whp and has a nice quick spool.

He gassed it to early out of the turn. Back end went out left. He got scared. Turned left, locked up brakes. Back end went right, he went into a wall.

he got off the gas while sideways... aka rear end caught grip fast and sent him right in the direction of the counter steer
