I will never do business with JDM Steve again

Basically, in a nutshell, I will never personally do business with JDM Steve again. I don't want to start drama, I'm just tired of bad business never being mentioned on 240Atlanta. And I will no longer do business with someone who wants to yell, curse, and talk to me like they are a child, or that wants to threaten me when I simply want to settle business.

I've waited as patiently as I could on parts and cash that he has owed me for almost two months. I went out of my way, on one of the worst nights I've ever had to do him a favor by bringing him a few things he needed, in hopes that I would get mine in the timely fashion I was promised. We traded a BMC, center console, cam caps, as well as a front timing cover, for a set of stock rear brake calipers with lines and hardware and pads, and some cash to cover my trips both ways.

After calling him today, and simply saying "Hey Steve, I need the brakes that you owe me as well as the cash, I have my new car home and I need to get my business handled. I can be by tomorrow around 5 to pick it up, so since you'll be at the cookout, I fiure you could have it ready. I also mentioned that while I was there, I could pick up some of Viperbites belongings, and deliver them to Viperbite since I would be out his way tomorrow getting a car for a buddy. And that if Steve didn't have all of our stuff, or any of it, then he could match the cash difference with all of it, and it was all good, just that both of us needed our stuff"

I figured that was about as fair as I could be, and that Steve would understand this, since he claims that he is a professional business owner that prides himself on great customer service.

I left this in a voicemail, and about an hour later, I receive a call back.
Conversation went somewhat along this line.

"Hey whats up"
"Not alot, did you get my message?"
"No, whats up?
*I said what was said in the voicemail over again*
"Well dude, Im not fucking doing anything tonight, or tomorrow since its the cookout"
"Look Steve, Ive been patient, you promised me it first on the 15th of June, then July first, and its about the end of the month, and I'd like my stuff, as well as I can get Casey's engine stand you've had for over 6 months, his head, and his turbo while I'm there in one swoop. If you don't have it all, its cool, you can just pay each of us what our stuff is worth, and be done"
"LOOK I DONT GIVE A FUCK A....."

I hang up, as I'm not going to be cursed out and yelled at over business, when there is no reason for it.

He calls back
"Dude, if you'd fucking let me finish"
"Steve, Im not going to sit on the phone with you and be cursed out and talked to like we're in high school, theres no need for you to be acting like a hardass, I dont care, I just need my shit that I was promised, and Casey would like his as well"
"Well Caseys fucking stand is at the old fucking shop, and Im not getting it"
"Steve, I know you bought a new stand, it doesnt matter which he gets, he just needs a stand to reassemble his motor for his car"
"He doesnt need a fucking stand!"
"No Steve, he does, and seeing that its his, the least you can do is get him it back"
"He doesnt need a fucking stand. Im not doing shit for tomorrow, if you wanna start some shit we can fucking start it, come up here and handle it if you wanna start shit!"
"Dude, Im not starting a damned thing, I just need my shit, and Casey would like his, and I can be there around 5 or so tomorrow"
"Well Im not pulling the fucking brakes off, and just know that if you come up here, your fucking with my business and on my property, and we can deal with it"
"Steve, as far as I'm concerned, you and I are done, and I can care less, I just need whats owed to me, and whats owed to Casey, period."
"Fuck you man, we've been done two fucking weeks, you can come up here and handle shit if you think you can"
"Alright Steve, just realize, that you keep this shit up, you will loose alot of business by doing people like this, I'm done"

And I hung up.

He's called me back about 5 times, and left 2 voicemails which I haven't checked, as I have nothing to say to someone who will want to curse me out over a simple conversation trying to get things settled, or threaten me when I only want whats rightfully agreed to be mine.

And I no longer have anything to say to him.

I really don't want alot of drama around this, but from this day out, I am no longer going to do any business with JDM Steve, and am no longer affiliated with him. Period.

okay well. this is the story of why im pissed. mine was recent. wes's is over a span of 2 months. i dont get mad and curse often but im pretty freakin angry at the moment.

So basically. Steve borrowed my engine stand, and hoist. for about 6 months. I drove it down there this past winter. it was cool. i didnt need it so i was fine with it.
So 2 months ago, i warn him. and tell him either a motorswap for me is comming up. or my brother will need his truck motor taken out for basic repairs. and ill need my hoist and stand back. so that he can buy his own tools right? well my motor threw a rod recently and needless to say i needed my tools. i thought the least he could do was deliver them to me. since i deliverd them last time. so he said "ill try man" like 3 times. and told me his trucks first gear was screwing up. so i was like well see about it tomorrow and we'll go from there. so anyways i call him and he says his truck wont shift out of first. so he cant deliver it. and im like aight well idk. and we hangup and basically say we will work it out in a few. so i call my gf and she tells me to guilt steve into gas money and go pick it up myself, i didnt wanna do that i just wanted my shit back so i was like w/e im gonna go get it. steve is good for it bla bla bla to my mom, my dad, brother, girlfriend, sister, friends, everyone i talked to about this. i backed steve up while everyone was skeptical. so i call steve and tell him i need him to be at his shop at 8 oclock cuz i can get my moms SUV at 7. and he throws this story about how hes driving his dads car and his dad needs the car back by 6 in chamblee and all this crap. and im like aight well. whats he doing. whens he gonna be back so you can use the car. bla bla bla he says hes not sure and thinks the dinner reservations are at 7:30 and tells me he will call me when his dad gets in. and he tells me that my engine stand is at his OLD shop and will get it, and put it in his dads car when his dad gets home. and i was like aight well i dont wana stay out too late so you think you can go ahead and get the stand ready and all, cuz i know its got a bare block on it. and hes like well im actually down the street from my old shop. at a friends house. and im like.. uhm okay? well i guess just get it when your dads car gets home and then head to your old shop. so i then procede to leave to pickup scato and decide well ill get a move and we will meet perfect timing for the stuff and ill get back around 12:30. well i get scato and dont calls steve for 30 minutes. so i get down to chamblee and shoot him a call. and steve said he is at his New shop. and im like aight well im all the way down here in chamblee why didnt you tell me you werent here. and hes like well you didnt call or something. idk. i dont really remember this part. but he didnt have a reason. he then told me that my engine hoist. was tucked behind a trailor, and next to a car. and it would be nearly impossible to remove. and im like well im in chamblee. i drove out here. fuck it ill just head up there and we'll see. but anyways. needless to say i head up there. and get there and theres 2 cars parked outside. so i dont think anything of it. but anyways. i get int here and we take a look at it. im like hey nice new shop blah blah blah. and then we go look at the hoist. and thers enough room to take it apart. so i take the host apart into 4 pieces. and we haul it off *the whole time steve is like. not helping. and discouraging me from doing it.* so then we get out there and start talking and figuring out how im gonna get my engine stand too. and im like well you think you can follow me to your old shop and we can all heman it and take the motor off and i can have a stand so i can build a motor this weekend? and hes like. leave here? well im not gonna leave yet. so im like... umm... okay? well i need a stand... and im like all akward cuz im a pussy for confrontation. and then im like well we'll work it out for tomorrow. steve said he was gonna be in kennesaw friday. and would deliver the stand then. so im like cool. well. steve bought the same stand i own. and told me yesterday both stands were still at the old shop. *probably because the last time i was down there i saw them* and then im like hey can i wash my hands anywhere. so he points me to the sink and i look around at his cars and such. thinking. hey this is worked out its chill. well then shit hits the roof. i wash my hands and see a pretty orange engine stand with no engine on it. sitting behind a fucking pallet. so im like.......... getting really nervous in my stomach and im like whose stand is that? and hes quick to say its his. so im like okay............................................. well i ahte to be an asshole about this but why did you lie to me about your dads car? and hes like? huh??? what? i didnt. and i confronted him about the car deal cuz basically i got to his exit and called and before i said i was anywhere i asked if his dad had gotten back to him and steve said his dad hadnt. so then i straight did a Uturn and headed to lawrenceville. me, expecting him to be in some friends car or something cuz he was hanging out with a friend he said. so i get to the shop and his dads red mailibu was at his shop. so basically he said his dad hadnt gotten back yet. and i was at his old shop. when he said his dad wasnt back yet..... anwyays, he really didnt have an explanation as to why 1 his stand was at the new shop when he said both were at the old shop, and 2 how his dads car warped or somethin to lawrenceville. so w/e

i head home with an engine stand under the asumption hes bringing it the next day when he is in kennessaw to meet with his designer.

so anyways, after all that he messages me on aim and i confront him on aim. and like wise again he didnt have any real explanation just sat there and denied he did anything. when hes clearly lied about this whole situation. like he didnt wanna give me my tools back. so anyways, i called him several times yesterday asking when he was comming. and he either didnt answer or said he would get back to me. and never got back to me. so i got online and sent him a PM saying this whole situation is complete bs. and that i just wanted my stuff. the least he could do would be deliver it. he offered for me to drive back out there to get my stuff saturday* today* and i basically said hell no. i already went out there once. im not driving again. it was 30 dollars in gas. to go from woodstock, to lawrenceville and back. thats 17.0 average mpg do the math 30 bucks. at 4.09 a gallon.

so tonight wes calls me up and says hes gonna be driving near there and can repo (lol at the way he said it) my shit steve has of mine for me. and i was like well it would save me a huge trip and alot more bs.

so anyways, steve still has my engine stand, 98,000 mile ka24de s14 head, and tc05-12a turbo.

all i want is compensation. because he failed to make shit right.


i guess this is what I get for being nice enough to loan out well over 200 bucks in tools to a friend. and delivered.

I didnt call with an attitude, I was completely firm and stating that everyone needed there stuff, or the money to cover it. I was just like I would be saying it to anyone I left a Vmail just saying that I've waited a while, and I was tired of it. I wish I would have thought to record the conversation, just so there is no bullshit.

I shouldn't have to chase someone down who is supposed to be a strait up kind of business owner that does great work and provides great service when they owe me, and I've been patient.

I have only done business with JDM Steve once, everything was fine. But i have heard way too many bad things about him, to recommend him to anyone.

It's a long story, due to a misunderstanding, as to why Steve and I are not on the best terms to begin with, which has nothing to do with this event tonight. I have no real problems with JDM Steve in general, just at how he has handled this, as well as other things. I keep business and personal things seperate, just how I know many people that I like personally that I don't do alot of business with, or how I know alot of people I cant stand that I'll do business with.

Like I've stated, I hear enough about bad business on here, and as far as I know, damned near everyone I have done business with on this board has not had a problem, and has been very happy, and if they have had any issues, they have not brought it to my attention. Between Casey, Russ, James, other Wes, other James, Russ, Scato, Bigjack, Chris, Tyler and Carina, George, Bean, Justin, Andy, Cameron, Duke, Griffin, Johnny, esteban, Andrew, Nismoguy, or any of them, I don't recall anyone calling me with a problem about any business that I have been a part of. And if they have, they all know me damned near personally, as I always say "If you have any problems at all, don't hesitate to call me, and we will try and make it right"

Not to be an asshole, but there is no other side to the story, I've said this as verbatim as I can, and it was how it all went down with what involved me. I may have been rude in a way calling on a Saturday night to try and have things handled, but when Steve lives literally right next door to his shop, I didn't see him taking a walk next door, and about 20 minutes of his time to have my things ready, so that I could pick them up while he'd be there tomorrow.

Casey on the other hand, I have only heard his side. But as of recent events, and in general, because Casey has never lied to me, and always been a very great friend, I will trust Casey's word 100 times before I have anything to say to Steve, or listen to any of his.

There is nothing to work out. I am done.
I'll take my loss and deal with it, as its only some brake parts and a bit of cash.

I'm more angry that some one would do two people that have consistently backed him, and stood up for him, vouched for him, and put our word and names on the line for him, and went way out of our way for him time and time again, and handle it in a manner like this.

So I'll take my business elsewhere, as I am done. If Steve wants to be petty over something like this, then I really do have nothing to say to him, and want nothing to do with him. As I don't want to speak to him, nor hear what he has to say, much less deal with him.

Moreso than anything, I just want Casey to get what he needs, I know what its like to have your car blown up and need it fixed as soon as possible and not be able to. As long as Casey gets his stand and parts, I am happy.

I wish him the best with his so-called shop and great service, but all I can say is that I will never do business with him, and I would recommend that anyone who considers doing business with him to really take a second thought before they do.

Besides, would you rather be paying the person that does the work on your car, so that that person gets what they worked for?

Or pay someone to make money of someone else doing all of the work, getting no cash, or no credit for the job that was done.

Think about that before you do business with JDM Steve.

Lets just say, that I know this from personal experience, that JDM Steve does not do all of the work that he claims he does, or can do, and has had others do alot of the work on cars that Steve claims that he has.

I have been called numerous times asking "Hey, will you come help me put this clutch in? I can't get it on right, how do you do it man?, it doesn't line up, I can't figure it out" or "Hey, could you ride down to the shop today and help me do this swap? I could buy you lunch or something"

And all shit aside, I'm done working on the credit system with anyone, period. Nor will I let someone make their name off my my coattails, or without myself receiving any credit, much less make a couple hundred dollars and only buy me lunch, when I do the majority of the work.

There are atleast 2 members of this board that I know of first hand, who I am not bringing into this that have done work for Steve, on customer cars, that Steve has either not payed, or shortchanged, as well as not given credit to for the jobs they have done.

I honestly shouldn't have even mentioned that at all, as that is not my concern, and seeing that Steve can run his business how he wants, because I have nothing to do with it, whether it be to the sky, or into the ground.

I apologize for that, as I already feel shitty enough for making this whole ordeal public in the first place.

I've known Casey(Viperbite) for a while now, we hang out regularly and I will vouch for Casey over just about anyone I know, because he has been the most strait up and honest person I have met in a long time. He's never ever had a problem helping me out when I really needed something, no matter what he had going on, and has never asked for anything in return, and has been one of the best friends I have ever made.

hey guys. ive got a story as well. most of you know i left for florida a little over a year ago now to come here to florida for school. before i left i was at steves place and we were talking about some power folding mirrors.

i had the cash at the time and tossed him 80bucks and my dads address that i was to be at down here. come 8 or so months later after i almost completely forgot, i messaged him politely wondering what the deal was. said they hadnt been shipped to him yet but hed check and get on it.

another month or so goes by, and when i ask again he said they shipped one but not both of the mirrors. so i wait some more. both of us were being polite and no yelling/name calling, not even a curse word at all.

now i messaged him about 2 weeks ago from today saying, just send me a working KA MAF and TPS cause those are currently shitting on me. he said sure and im still sitting here with nothing.

I was just stating the obvious and asking questions since I do bodywork at toyota for a living. Then he calls up one of my friends and tells him to tell me to chill out, his dad was threatening to sue me over slander against his buisness, when all I was doing was asking questions that needed to be asked. And I will also vouch for Wes's claim that Steve says he does a lot of work that he doesn't actually know how to do. Then he calls his friends and asks for their help, but doesn't share any of the labor money with them. I have heard this from a few different people.

sorry booze in me and im sick of this shit! if you have a bad time at JDM steve or killswitch or even gasp Lethal, then say so online and not pussy out and just talk about it in person. warn other people. i personally have never had a bad experience with anyone or shop, but i have heard from multiple people about multpile shops. and NO ONE is perfect! but seriously dont think for one second a shop is perfect. but it helps to know things.

im not naming names of people or shops, but honestly i wouldnt trust anyone of these shops near my car except a select few. and it would help if people posted about it. dont starts drama cause every shop has its dick riders, that will defend the shop till the end of the earth. but dont be afraid to speak up. seriously

im tired of hearing in person which shop fucked blah blah over and then not see it posted online, and trhen hear about it happening to another person.

Im really shocked by how many of you guys "think" but its all good people have their views and I wont deal with you anymore.

You guys can talk all you want about how much I cant do, but those who have had work done know whats up and know I do it right and everyone one I have ever done has NEVER came back for any issues like some other shops who are on here, but Im not going to dog someones shop, they are who they are and if they do bad work or good work thats up to whoever to speak about it, not me.

I'm not that dumb, nor will I ever be. I don't trust you as is, much less coming on your turf by myself at night. And based on sheer principle alone, I shouldn't have to be the one to come to you to get parts that are owed to me, and neither should Casey. I've never had a noteworthy bad experience with Steve. But from what I've heard and read, a lot of people are mad at him and feel cheated, not to mention feel that they have done him a lot of favors and those favors were never returned.

THis kind of thing doesn't happen with multiple people without at least some of it being legit. Steve, if you really run a reputable business, then you should make it right with these people. From what you've posted in here, you don't seem to give a shit about any of them, and I know for a fact that at least Wes has been good to you. The least you should do is offer to meet up with them to give their stuff back. Why should they have to come all the way back to your shop again?

If you cant offer CUSTOMER SERVICE then dont open a shop.

These guys are making their LIVELYHOOD off working on cars. How are they supposed to eat if you take money off their plate? Are you going to give them free stuff from your job?

This was a rant as a whole on the shops,customers thing, but i feel it needed to be said as i see lots of problems with this everyday.

From all my experiences with steve have been awesome and I've know him for about a year. From help with my stuff, parts, and just hanging out and seeing how he really is. Cool cat.

He told me last night he was going to get all of the stuff ready for them cause he didn't want to be on the bad side. I guess I should've called you wes and told you, I guess hearing it from me wouldve been different.

Before Emily and I opened our shop, we asked Steve if he wanted to go in with us.
He said yes and so we started to make plans to open a shop.
While all this was starting to happen, I never told anyone of our plans, but I kept hearing people tell me how Steve was opening a shop. But the funny thing was that no one ever mentioned Emily or me in those statements. Then, I get a few people who I knew come to me and say they heard I was going to be working for Steve at his new shop.
I actually thought all this was funny and never even brought it up. Steve brought it up to me a month or so later and we discussed it.
I don't think Steve is out to screw anyone over or try to steal anything from anyone.
But I do think Steve is out for just Steve and doesn't want to share credit or anything else that anyone may deserve.

Steve, your desire to be a well respected shop owner has clouded your outlook on the way to achieve that.
It's very exciting to open a shop of your own, I can personally attest to that as I'm sure Emily can also, but to gain respect means you have to earn it.
I have done a lot of favors for people on here and asked nothing in return. But I will call on some folks who I've helped and hopefully they will remember that I helped them and be willing to return the favor.

Some of that money should have been used to purchase his own tools so Casey could have his back. Regardless whether he ever needed them or not, they belong to him and that is the bottom line.
Wes has done a lot of work at Steve's shop and didn't receive the credit for the work performed. Not once did I ever see Steve post in a thread that said, "Thanks to Wes for the help with such and such"

Steve, you want to be a business man and a respected shop owner. It doesn't come automatically, it has to be earned and worked for. When someone helps you out by wiring up an SR swap for you, or installing a clutch, then they should be compensated with money and recognition.

I have heard accounts from different people of him taking a job, then asking for help with it. Help with installing, help with wiring, etc. I'm not gonna say he doesn't know how to do any of the work he claims to know how to do, but I do know that he has relied on a couple of different people for help, and then not offered them any compensation for said help.

These guys are making their LIVELYHOOD off working on cars. How are they supposed to eat if you take money off their plate? Are you going to give them free stuff from your job?

This was a rant as a whole on the shops,customers thing, but i feel it needed to be said as i see lots of problems with this everyday.

If you the customer, and the shop owners would follow this simple advice, everyone would get along, and threads like this wouldnt happen.

You are part of the reason so many posts get deleted. Threads like this get touchy when off topic posts are deleted because people like you think that useful information was deleted. I can assure you it was not.

I saw no mudslinging at all throughout this, Mike. Going supermod to delete half the shit, when the original delete included many things leading up to this, as well as others who have had negative accounts for all of this, and other people who have legit questions, or had a legit problem, was bullshit. Period. I'm all for the "IBTL" or Bullshit conversation through this thread, of the things that didn't pertain to business matters.
