I think that we should have a drift clinic for beginner drifters that wont go to events for being afraid of looking bad. I think SEDA should do somthing like that I noticed that last year they did it so I figured it would be a good idea for some of the more expert guys cough sammy lol cough "A" cough Marcos to show some beginners some stuff just an idea.

Thanks George

yea drift clincs are very helpful

just have some cones set up so they can practice donuts.

then have like a lil 2 corner course to get them use to transitions.

you don't learn to swim by dangling your feet in the pool.

there are lots of drivers in ATL that will help you learn good habits while drifting. just ask. some free advice: sticking your hand out the window while drifting does not make you a better drifter, in fact it usually makes you spin.

you just have to ask.

here is me asking. 26 will be a clinic for me. please don't be stingy with ride alongs, in auto X I found that getting in an FR car with low power and watching the Vet's taking corners to find the apex and relative speed worked really well.
i'm only hoping to get 3 half decent runs for the whole day, in the end though i'll have a ton of fun

we ll get a private beginners drift clinic if that helps.

we have to take care of the people giving out lessons etc,

their time is spent teaching and being patient and taking a day off;

also maybe providing a basic drift setup car or two for those who need one.

??

can be arranged.

either ways, the 26th will be a good one to come and drive if you havent already sign up. this is my 3rd event... i m not a drifter. and i havent drifted my own car yet.

i am not good at all, but i get better each event.

come spin out with me.

I'm down to coordinate an event like this. All of our events welcome new people but a private event aimed at instruction could be good. We'd have to gauge interest tho to make sure enough people will sign up. The cost will be more also since instructional days usually have less drivers leaving more time for teaching...

thatd be the shizznit. back in cali they have events like this easily twice a week. and there was like 5 tracks to race, drag, drift, auto-x, anything you wanted for $10 for all day, and the tracks were no more than 5 miles apart... wish that was here...

every southeastdrift/DG event i've been to is extremely accommodating for beginners in my opinion. none of these are high level competitions, and a ton of drivers i know (myself included) have just learned from standard practice days. perhaps extra instruction would be good for a certain day, but i'm pretty sure almost everyone from the advanced group would be glad to give pointers to anyone that needs it.

theres a huge difference between a practice event and a clinic theres more one on one time with pro drivers you can ask questions and stuff events they dont have as much time to help you get alot better

we can throw an event for beginner drivers, all day, no spectators necessary.
distance may be a little hike since its cheaper on rent for the place..

we ll get some pro drivers out ... to give a helping hand.

price may be a little costlier than a south east drift event... but anything is possible.

something like that?

Blake

no, i wasnt "driving" but i did "drive" at the event, someone let me use their car. My corolla wasnt legal at the time.

I should be there in that piece of shit at the next one in a couple weeks.

And just because I know what Im talking about dont get pissy and call me out, cause I will gladly get in your car and show you how to drive it if you insist.

drift clinic was a term DG Trials used

it was like 10 person limit drift event

where you had like 2039023 runs and pros there willing to teach you the basics

you paid a little extra

but you got some serious run time on the track and no one was allowed entry (well for the most part) the crowd level was low so less nerves riding on ya.

the retarded stuff in this thread is hilarious. drift days in cali for 10 bucks, street drifting to get better, dudes who have no clue giving pointers.

if this sort of thing is going to happen i think it should be run like any other driving school. you have everybody sit down and you go over basics, safety, car prep and maintenance. then you have the driver break into groups and go work on different things. i single donut, figure 8s, linking turns, hitting clippings points. the biggest thing is to not teach the "right way" to drift but instead teach drivers good habits and then let their talent and dedication do the rest.

as far as drifting being easy, it is if you know what you're doing.

disclaimer: i'm not the best drifter in the world and i know this, but i have a little experience in drifting and driving schools.

Many top ranked pro-drivers got their start drifting at DG events (Florida / Northeast / Georgia)....... including many of the better drivers in Atlanta.

We concentrate on driver training and that's why it has always been important for us to have our instructors (Formula-D Pro Drivers) at our events to help out.
Also another HUGE factor for DG is safety for the drivers, participants, and our workers. I might seem like a party-pooper and an asshole when I ask you 'not to do something'.. but it's to help prevent "shit happens" occurrences.

It's been a while since I've actually driven at one of our events.. but that's mainly because I'm working to make sure that the event runs smoothly and to bust skulls of those that try to ruin something good for the rest of us.

If you guys want, I have no problem putting on another DGtrials Private Day event locally.

We'll bring out our instructors to help you learn how to drift. You will pay a little bit more, but I don't think you can argue with something in the area of 150-175 runs if you have enough car and tires. Many of the guys on here can attest for the value and learning experience of a Private Day.
