I tried to reuse my Kenwood head unit from my S2K which I love - but the Nissan harness wouldn't fit into the unit. Is there a converter I can buy?

yeah, there is a harness converter, any electronic store will have it, even Wal Mart

It goes between your factory 240 harness, and then you splice it into your aftermarket radio harness

Justin, you need a radio wiring harness for a 240sx. you need to remove the one thats for the honda off and connect the new one to it. after that, it will plug and play

Is this what I need? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BEST-KITS-BHA7550-NISSAN-95-06-CD-PLAYER-CAR-HARNESS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el 1247QQcategoryZ100446QQihZ005QQitemZ150259244690QQ rdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V

Hoa, I don't really see what I can take off of the Kenwood unit (just to note it's not a Honda CD player, it's a Kenwood that fits a Honda). It's just the female connector that the harness goes into. I figure there'd be some sort of adapter but I don't know what it's called. Could someone link me to what I need just so I know? Maybe I'll go hit up Best Buy real quick... but I know I can get stuff way cheaper online.

that will be what you need but you can probably get it cheaper at a audio store because you wont have to pay for shipping

then you will need a soldering iron if you want to install it correctly or if you want to do it the cheap way get some twist connectors and electrical tape

Cut off pigtail from headunit, leave enough wire to splice.
Go to walmart, get a converter harness for whatever year your 240 is.
resplice. Also, get antenna adapter, install, and viola.

If you need it installed, holler at me.

I went to Best Buy and they didn't have it. I went to Walmart and the lady looked at me like I was crazy (it was a ghetto as shit walmart my girlfriend and I were the only white people there and the staff had an "I don't give a shit" attitude) and said "If we ain't got it on da shelf, den we ain't got it."

ok i'm jumping in on this b/c i've had a question for a long time... would it be the same thing for a "gathers" CD player to use in a non honda car (seeing as i've only seen them in hondas)

There is no pigtail on the headunit. There is a plastic female multi-pin "hole" in the back of the headunit. I already have the Nissan wiring harness. In fact, there is already a 50Wx4 Pioneer headunit installed and working in the car now, I just want to use my Kenwood from my last car.

I figured there'd be some "nissan to honda" type of wiring harness that would be female on one end for the nissan harness that I have to fit into and a male on one end to stick into my Kenwood.

I'm still at a loss :)

I think so. The Honda harness fits a certain type of CD player, and your brand must fit the Honda harness. You would be in the same situation as me then, because the male end of the Nissan harness can't fit into the headunit you want to use.

well if there is no harness coming off your radio you are missing that.

There is no NISSAN, HONDA. MITSU, etc harness that fits into a cd player. There are two harnses you need. OPne for the radio, and one for the car

All radios come with their own harness that has one plug for the radio and the other end is open wires where you splice them into any cars harness

Yeah you need to find that or you'll have to order it from the maker of the cd player.

More like...

===car===[]==adapter_harness====X==cdplayer_harness[][cd player]

x = splice between adapter harness and cd player harness.
The adapter harness is the one you buy at circuit city or best buy. Theyre normally $20.

If you just disconnected the harness from the radio in the S2k, chances are you have left the Kenwood side of the harness in the S2k. Reach down into the dash and you should find a harness connector and you can disconnect the KENWOOD-to-HONDA harness from the HONDA factory harness.

Once you get the KENWOOD-to-HONDA harness, cut off the Honda side of the harness and make sure you leave enough wire length so you can easily connect the new harness.

Now you need to go purchase (Circuit City / Best Buy) the Metra 70-7550 Nissan harness. (that is the correct part number)

Once you have this harness, connect by matching the wire colors from the Kenwood to the 70-7550.

On your S14, check in your trunk under the rear deck for factory amps. They are two silver boxes with 2 connectors each going into them. If you have these amps, I do recommend that you bypass them for better sound.

As far as doing the Nissan amp-bypass.. it's a little more work and can be done COMPLETELY at the rear amp harnesses. As long as you are using the headunit to power your speakers you DO NOT need to run extra wire from the front to the back and anyone that tells you so is an idiot and wants you to waste your life.
(once practiced.. you can bypass any nissan with amps like this in less than 10 minutes)

Go here for amp bypass instructions and ONLY use the wiring diagram from this page.. and use Option B. The guy is dumb and wants to preserve a factory rear amp harness which is a complete waste of time. Who the hell wants to put their S14 back to stock?

Hope this helps.

BTW.. if you need a Kenwood harness... I've got a few and might have one that works for your radio.

Repped for saying what I said!

BTW.. make sure that your current Pioneer radio has a Nissan antenna adapter hooked up to it.. if not.. you might not get the greatest radio reception.

I think the Metra part number is NI-10.

Repped :) Thanks for your time man that was a huge help. I did indeed leave the Kenwood harness in my s2k. I will follow these instructions and get it running :goodjob:

Well even if you did you'd need that harness that I left in my s2k, which I didn't even realize I left :) I've soldered speedo calibrators and other stuff into that car before but if I get lazy I know who to ask-
