heres my readings ::

25/25 test
...............Reading...........Allowable........ ...Result
HC-ppm..........0039....................132.......... .....pass
CO-%.............00.36..................0.73......... .......pass
NOx ppm..........0816...................945........... .......pass
RPM.................2938...............1500-3000
CO+CO2%........13.8................6.0 Min.

50/15 test
...................Reading.........Allowable...... .......Result
HC-ppm..........0030..............136................ ...Pass
CO-%.............00.04.............0.76.............. ....Pass
NOx ppm.........1766...............1045............... ..FAIL
RPM...............2913..........1500-3000
CO+CO2%.......14.0............6.0 Min.

as you can see, on the 50/15 test i failed, with high NOx levels, Dave (v-empire) told me, to change out my temp sensors (temp gauge hasnt been working since i swapped in the new 95' motor) and we'll try it again..

I think a good reason i failed that part is because my MAF is bad, in the morning ill crank the car before i go to school.. and i have to let it sit, to get warm before i drive it, or it will sputter alot.
Last week i drove to Will's house (infinite) to check out his sr20, and look at his bumper he's selling to me, then i was about to leave, and my car wouldnt idle, popped the hood, checked out everything and it was good.
Try again, still it doesnt idle. Will unhooked the MAF and said start start it, and it idled, then he told me to rev it (when the MAF is unhooked it has a 3k RPM rev limiter) he plugged it back in, and it runs perfect.. that is when i found out my MAF is bad..

But, when i pulled my motor, and cleaned up the engine bay, we pulled the complete A/C system, we pulled the Evap canister, and pulled out this thing : circled in red on pic and blocked off the hole that blue hose runs into(pink arrow) and what does the plug circled in blue do ??

^^ pic of old motor

could the fact i have a bad MAF, and my temp gauge doesnt work make my NOx readings that high ??
any other opinions out there ???

and since my car is a 93' and i have a 95' motor (everything besides the distributor, is the way i bought it) could my 93' ecu really not read the temp sensors, even though they look the same ??

Well, since you have a 95 motor, with a 93 harness, you probably don't have most of the EGR stuff plugged in around the intake mani. Or possibly not even the AICV.

And the reason I know you don't have a 95 harness is becuase you would not be able to run a 93 distributor with the external coil with it.

true, my 93' motor had 2 plugs behind the head, each plug had about 20 vacuum hoses running to it..
the 95' motor does not have that junk..

well....make sure u didnt have a vacuum leak.
my car wouldnt idle when i got it.....and later i found out there were a humongous vaccum tube that wasnt plugged in >.>
and ur radiator looks nasty :P clean it up ^^

My crx failed for the same reason last year. it was a bad cat converter.

hmm.. i dont know that much about catalytic convertors.. but can they just go bad ?? or do they just become stopped up then one day blow everything through the tailpipe ??

can someone tell me what the stuff i have circled in blue, and red in the pic is.. that would be good to know on my part

Yes and yes

Cat converters reduce NOx

mine passed last year... lol
the previous owner had a tag so he must have passed... but he had an o2 sensor replaced to get it to pass

um if your cat is bad ... find a stock one from a low mileage part car and slap it on there
mmhmm

I don't think the air that comes through my heater vents would even pass the sniffer. smells like straight gasoline when i turn the heat on with the windows up.
