looks fine to me just look for reviews of the specific model number on yahoo or google

i've read some reviews and they are SCATHING!!!
my hesitation with buying this was well founded.

yup reviewes are the eaiset way to determine if you should buy a product

because i doubt anyone on the site has tried that unit first hand so reviews of it are all you pretty much have to go off of

If you want a quality GPS.. stick with a brand name. I've seen a lot of aftermarket nav systems from "no-name" manufacturers and I have not been impressed at all..

exactly,
i was trying to skimp on the ICE for my baby, since i know that i will NOT buy cheap shiz for the important things for the car.....footwork, wheels/tires, engine tranny.....but alas, i'll shell out the extra dough-age for the things that are immediately seen as well.

soon as i start hitting flip with dough after i buy new carpet/seats i'll worry about the interior shit. 3 months.

There are definitely good deals out there if you look. Don't disregard a brand just because you haven't heard of it, but do your homework before you buy.

BrandsMart is the shnit, and they let you haggle with them alittle and make a deal, as long as you get someone cool.
But, as you stated you get what you pay for.

ever owned a pair of tennis shoes from wal mart? they "seem" ok, aesthetically... but no more than 6months later they are falling apart.

keep in mind the use you plan on putting into a given item. if it sees daily use, maybe spend a bit more. if you only drive 2 miles at a time (like me)... the chances of blowing up a piece of audio equipment are less than for a commuter. if you forsee upgrading in the next couple of years anyway... you can also afford to skimp.

we all know an alpine will outlive your car and that new balances will run FOREVER. so maybe go for a base model alpine -vs- a no name touch screen?

also take into account the money you plan on spending on the system as a whole. if you are not going to upgrade wire, speakers, install subs and run a cap.. then you have no use for a top end head unit. if you are spending 2k on subs/wire/mids-highs etc... then yeah, its worth it to get the top of the line hu to match and follow suit.
