As Nagisa advertises, their seat rails for the S13 will fit with a Recaro Pole Position (standard) but NOT an XL.
Well, that's partially true.
First, details on the seat, Recaro Pole Position (standard):
Full bucket, non-reclinable, FRP shell. Side mount bolts, has holes for racing harnesses, including the submarine belt. Overall, this seat is AWESOME as far as comfort and posture is concerned. I could not possibly think of another seat that I want in my car.
I consider myself a slightly larger than average person, or fat, or however you want to call it. I'm 5'10, 215 lbs, 38" waist. It's a slight squeeze, but it's not discomforting. A VERY supportive seat, and I recommend it to ANYONE that can't get their ass into a BRIDE.
That being said. The seat is a tad too wide for the Nagisa rails, even though the site states it's fine. Which it does, after some modifications that I will go over now.
Basically, the base of the seat has to be mounted on the highest slot of the brackets, with the base of the brackets facing away from the base of the seat. This in turn pushes the seat rails OUTWARD. And I don't just mean that it takes some convincing to get it in place. It made my hatch/gas tank release USELESS, and that was after using a pry bar to position the rails while my friend tightened down the bolts. The slide arm was jammed on top of it, and I couldn't budge the seat. All I could really do was open the gas door, but when you're tech'ing in at events, being able to open the hatch is kind of crucial.
Remedy?
Remove the plastic piece off the hatch release, bend the arm along the flanged edge to where it's flat, so you can now pull it up, and the slide arm on the seat operates normally now. Simple enough, but it was frustrating, knowing that the only reason I was having to do this was b/c of the width of the seat.
OVERALL.
I'm satisfied/happy/eager to beat on it more.
I got frustrated, but when I realized that it was either a) bend/modify some $80 rails and hatch release, or try to sell a $700 seat and get something I can't fit into...no brainer.
Hopes this helps those considering either parts. I'm sure that if you use a narrower seat, you won't have the hatch release clearance issues that I had.
