I talked to a friend today and I told him how my tranny doesn't lock out reverse from 5th which it should. He said that this could be a sign that it's blown. It's not in the car yet and I want to make sure it's not blown so that I don't do the swap and then have to convert it back to an auto because I will have a weekend to do it, especially if I do it once school starts.
Is there any place that I could take my tranny to that can check it out while it's pulled? Mainly a reputable place like Mainstream, Lethal, or Killswitch.

im not sure if that is a sign that the tranny is bad
i would go ahead and swap it in and see how it goes
but if you feel more comfortable take it up to a shop and have them look at it
i think tyler is going to the shop today so he should be on here soon
maybe a little more helpful
but im assuming its not blown
but good luck buddy

What do you mean blown??? Manual trannies don't blow. Bearings and seals go bad or gears get damaged.
Put the tranny in all the gears and spin the onput shaft. If it turns without any noise, then it is probably ok.
Put it in and take it for a drive. Make sure you change the gear oil in it.
I always use 75/90 synthetic, but standard gear oil i fine too.

I'm a noob, what's an onput shaft, the drive shaft?

Sorry. I meant input shaft. The shaft at the front of the tranny.

O, thanks. Earlier I put the d/s in and spun it in every gear and it sounded the way it should with no fluid in it.

Take it down the road for a test drive and see how it is.
Good luck.
