Yea like can you weld the thermostat back on if a part of it was cracked off? Like a part where the screw goes into.
on a ka24de
"part in red is broke off"

You could weld anything. But chances are finding a replacement would be just as much, and would be better. There are tons of KA's laying around. In fact, I probably have that piece.

I don't think so. I wouldn't know right this second becuase I'm not in front of the motor, but I know on SR's its not.

He's talking about the HOUSING. Not the actual thermostat.

Lets try to find a pic of that part of a KA so we can see if it is replaceable or not...

I've honestly been looking for a good picture of the side of a KA block since I found this thread. WTF is so hard about that to find on the damn interweb!

Ok so the answer is good and bad. Its not part of the block, but it is part of the front cover, which includes the oil pump.

so i gotta replace the oil pump too? hm.... how much would that be

hellfire

Yes, which means you will have to pull the whole front cover, which also means you pretty much have to pull the head. That sucks. :(

hellfire

I found that exact one too. But doesn't give a clear enough shot to tell if the housing unbolts or not.

LoL.. You can try. I would assume it would work, as I've seen people fix much worse things with JB Weld.
