Hey, I found a sr today for $800 with 67k on it. Its comes with the harness, and ecu but not alternator, starter, master cylinder, AC, mounts... Would this be a good deal? And for all you sr owners how were the emiisions? thanks. If its not a good idea I may convert to dohc.

I've never had to emission test an SR. BUT I know of someone who can do it for you. But I'm not going to post the number, and will only tell you his number if you get the motor.
Also
Harness, thats good.
ECU, good.
What about Ignitor?
MAF
Tranny
etc?
You'll need a starter. I think Alternators are swappable with DOHC. Not positive though. Motors don't have Master cycliders, so no idea what you are talking about with that one. A/C is garbage, leave it out. You can't use the SR A/C compressor anyways, you will need DOHC. The motor mounts you can use off your SOHC.
You will also need PS resivior and lines becuase yours is on the wrong side.

I bought my engine from a local shop so if there were any problems with the insall (engine) I had someone that was close to me to fix the problem. If you do it on the internet you could winde up with a bad motor in the car. Then have to do it all again because the first one was a piece of crap.

yea, starters are hard to find, the ka wont work.
ignitors are generally bad as are the cam angle sensors.
you should just buy mine :D
and you dont need the master cylinder anyways, and the ac lines are a custom fit job on most apps.
the alt may work, i dont remember
stock 240 mounts work just fine, but i <3 my solid mounts
but i think you should just buy mine

Really, its not that good of a deal. Your missing a bunch of parts, and you will have a hard time tracking down some of them. Go with Infinites motor. :)

i can tell you right now,
ignitor - cheap one, q45. 35 bucks plus shipping. most sr20's go for 125 or more
alternator. theres one on ebay right now, buy it now 50 bucks, but its a blacktop and i believe they are different
cam angle sensor (never know) - 145
does it come with an ecu? if not plan on 240 bucks for one.
then you have downpipe, 150 for a blitz
exhaust - 500 minimum for a good 3"
plus you have to realize that the harness doesnt plug and play unless he has already had it in a running 240, my harness is plug and play cos i amde everything fir the japanese harness :p
so while some of those are accesories, most are basic needs for an sr20det swap.
dont forget fmic and piping, blow off valve, etc-

I do need you to fix it! If I bring it over there to wherever the hell you work, would you be able to hook me up? I'll have to tow it, becuase I'm afraid to ride it.
I wish I knew shit about bikes, then I would just know what to get.

take it from someone who bought an $800 black top - unless you have a lot of time to find the stuff you are missin and you are planning on rebuilding the bottom end anyways its NOT worth it.
I picked one up for $800, Ive spent $657 on bearings and gaskets and bolts, $554 on bottom end parts, still have to spend about $200-300 at the machine shop (and thats a good deal at the one I work with!) Ill spend $700ish rebuilding the head and Im not even counting all the misc. nonsence Ive ended up buying.
You could definately do it cheaper by not buying the performance parts I picked up, (especially the head and bottom end) but the gaskets, bolts and bearings will probably be a must and I just went with ARP, ACL and OEM Nissan, pretty standard stuff.
For me it works because I will have a brand new motor Ive built up and I know will last. If thats not what you want to do though, you REALLY should spend the extra dough and try to get one through a local shop with a warranty you know they will honor.

05-10-2007, 01:08 AM
No his is missing things. Exhaust mani and turbo. You will have to redo the wiring, etc. But its still a good deal as it sits.
Just get a motor from a vender and I will swap it in for you. Becuase I'm pretty sure Flip isn't going to back out on the motor.

So would you be charging for the extra parts. Do you have the missing parts? Are you talking about getting a different motor or the sr from the one I found? But still I'm thinking still about stock ka and sr so yeah.
hellfire
05-10-2007, 02:29 AM
I don't have the extra parts you would need for the SR you are talking about. I was saying just get one from a vender with everything you need included.
Also, why is it even a decision between SR or KA?
