View Full Version : Will these wheels work on a 240sx?

I currently have SSR Competition wheels on my s2k and I was wondering if there was any way to have them fit the 240.

They are 17x8 (225 tire) with +48 offset in the front and 17x9 (275 tire) with +55 offset in the rear. I realize I'd have to run a spacer most likely but if I kept the stock body and rolled the fenders, would these fit or look stupid?

You can run anything with a spacer, but really i wouldnt do it. Others do and you shouldnt have any issues, but i would sell them or trade for something more RWD-oriented. 2" spacers all around would make them fit pretty well, but i wouldnt go that route (just personal preference).

you would have to run about a 25mm spacer in the rear to clear your coilover. i wouldn't for a few reasons but if you want to thats up to you.

yea bolt pattern also matters

talk about hella gay offset ....gezzzz

haha they're not hella gay offsets - they are aggressive offsets common on a lot of newer sports cars :)

And they are rwd oriented - 8" wide in front and 9" wide in rear. They're perfect for the s2k but I love them so much and was hoping I could reuse them for the 240. They are only 13 lbs apiece too.

Check them out:

The bolt pattern is 5x114.

So I would need some sort of spacer on the front AND rear?

No, the offsets are pretty much hella gay...

...dont take that the wrong way though, but they are. Leave it up to Honda and Chevy to throw FWD offsets on their RWD sports cars.

offsets are the gay..lol

hub is not made for low offsets so yes wheels to fit the car, but we = cars to fit the wheels

you need spacers and you are all set.

you;re going to need at least 50mm spacers to make them look decent on a 240sx imo.

looks great on the s2k though.

Cool, anyone know the best place to buy spacers?

I think I might paint my 240 in new formula red and have an s2k clone :)

You really don't want to buy 50mm spacers..
that's 2"
that's huge and unsafe.

mmm. NFR is a nice color.

you keeping to s2k too huh?!

Nope, the s2k is going bye bye. I've already sold my aem ems, suspension, and turbo kit. I just need to sell my Bride seats (maybe I'll use them in the 240 too...). After that I part the car down to the frame and sell piece by piece. Need any parts for yours? I have clear headlight diffusers, megan stb, krank vents, competition stage 3 clutch, comptech flywheel, whiteline 30mm front sway bar, 3" single exhaust with fake 3" gutted cat, ztec single exhaust cap, and every oem part you can think of :)

Damn - I really wish I could use these ssr's and still look good on the car. 2 inch spacer does seem like a lot.

Just get wheels that will fit right. I run spacers and wish I didn't have to. 20 offset and lower!

naa.. dont need any parts for the s2000.
not going to mod it other than aesthetics. :)

i have the 240 and soon a bike for speed, hehe.

ima go ahead and thread jack for a second...

i'm getting some 15x7 +33 offset wheels... I don't need to run a spacer do I? It's an S13 hatch and it's not lowered yet

275 is too big for the 240sx rear, like 235/45 barely fits on a s13 rear, and same for a 255 on s14 rear....and im not so sure putting a 275 on a 9 is a good idea, you will be hurting performance more that helping it unless you are doing just drag! 275 is almost the biggest tire that even fits on a 10" wheel.

I dunno I have 275 on my 9" wide rears for my 400hp s2k and it ran great. Handled amazingly..

Fit the wheels pretty well:

Will the 255 barely fit on s14 rear because of the fenders? They can be flared, and the drop doesn't have to be so drastic. I'm more concerned with footprint and performance than looks (body height) per se. I'm gunning for 400hp in the 240 as well and I want all the contact patch that I can get to keep the rear planted. I am setting the car up for road course/grip driving.

Yea, don't listen to him. You can make 255's fit fine.

some people just have different opinions of what actually fits....i do not call alot of negative camber and permanent pulling and or rolling of the fenders fitting. my bad i did not explain what i meant when i said "fit".

its not a perspective...i auto x a c4 vette and i used to have a 275 tire on a 9 and when i came out of turns the car would flip flop, almost making me wreck everytime, it took the longest time to figure out..until finally a sponsor walked over and pointed out the problem, i had too much sidewall flex because the tire did not fit the rim properly. i simply went with a 255 and never happened again. so one day when you decide to pull a mad curve out in the back woods and you cant control that hoe, you aint gonna be thinkin it such a great idea then.

What are you talkin about?

I run a 255/40/17 on my 9" rears, my coilovers are set at lowest height, my fenders haven't been touched, and nothing rubs. A 45 sidewall isn't much taller, and I've got all the room in the world to raise up my suspension if it were to rub. My wheels are mirror flush, too. No sunken offset here.

S13, BTW.

ive got 255 on a 9" 26 offset and my crap has almost a half inch of clearance running a degree and a quarter camber i could easilly tuck a 275 on this same wheel. in my fendrs. and my car is pretty low...

the falken azenis must run like an inch wider than regular tires then, bec me boi is running 235 on a 10" wheel with no room at all and the fit-a-mint kinda sux with neg camber and all! on s13 coupe

I ran a 275 on 9" with falken azenis rt615. I love the tires and don't want to switch to another brand but I hate that they don't have a 265 option. It's just 255 - 275. The handling in the s2k is WORLDS different than most vehicles, especially the older 00/01 models (mine is 00). The handling is literally set up neutral, with no bias for understeer whatsoever. The car has a short wheelbase, also, and when you're running a lot of power the rear will go out on you so fast you're head will spin. I've driven Miatas, 240s, and other rwd vehicles and the s2k's rear end is from another planet in comparison so I needed the most rubber to the ground possible.

I'm guessing the 240 has a bit more understeer dialed in (I'll be going with a huge front anti-sway also to dial in more) and hopefully the 255 will be fine to keep the rear end planted firmly and not lose traction.

Guys put 310s on the back of 240s with stock fenders.

Just get different wheels, and keep those on the s2k.
