when you put the motor in, even stock, it is gonna shock you, and your car will be a shit ton faster..

i haev rode in 3 different 240s with stock sr20s and 2 of them scared the living shit out of me..

if im not right correct me but the sr20 has about 205whp stock, and the rb20 has 207-210whp right ??

just throw some cams in it now, and a good FMIC and you will be a lil bit over the 207-210whp mark

and it'll still probably scare the crap out of you

stock rb20 can hold a decent amount of power 14psi but expect things to wear out eventually. now if u can hold off, do it right the first time drive the other car and build it, then you'll be set.

I am going to have to disagree with everyone in here.

I say put it in. Then you will be able to work out any bugs you might find, and see what part of the car you want to change next. Maybe you are satisfied with the power, and maybe you would like to move onto suspension. Who knows. But you say you want to build it, but you havn't even driven it stock, so you have no idea what you want.

And plus pulling a motor really only takes a couple hours. So, say you drop it in, save the cash to build it (assuming you still go that route), then all you have to do is pull it out. So you wasted a day of work, big fucking deal. At least you will be able to enjoy the car in the meantime. And stop driving that hideous eclipse.

Kinda. But in this list..

gasket kit, fuel pump, fuel filter, intake, intercooler, clutch, exhaust, and mounts

Only the ones bolded are even relevant. A Fuel pump (I'm assuming you are meaning larger), intake, I/C, Clutch, Exhaust, and Mounts do nothing for reliability.

And you don't need a gasket kit. Maybe a Valve cover gasket, but thats it. And a fuel filter is a wear out item. Of course he would probably need one on a 15yr old car.

So no, nothing will save him from breaking anything. Which will not break anything else.

Oh. Well I still say drop the motor in. Then you can find out your kinks. If you don't then what if your water pump goes on your brand new built motor? What about oil pump? Those are things that would be much easier to find out on a stock motor.

Or maybe your oil filter is loose, or cross threaded, and you don't notice until its almost too late. On a stock motor, you might be ok. Built motor with large turbo, you just fried some bearings, and wasted a lot of money.

Huh? Unless you have an electric water pump.. Yours is stock.

Ahh gotcha.

LoL.. I still say drop the damn thing in. You will never save up enough money to do what you want with the motor. Enjoy it now, and stop wasting time searching for that 300HP. Cars are more fun when you drive them.

yah i say drop it in too
but do basic maintenance to it like tyler said...
i dunno if he wants to build it then collect parts you want and then pull the motor and stick them on
