Subby SVX vs Duke's Spec V...

First off I got pwnt... lol

So I see this thing off in the distance that looks like a talon with a big wing on it. So I speed up alil bit to take a look see, and what do I find?

This was no talon this was a subby SVX, I have only seen 2 of them ever. It was most def modded, had 3" inch piping all the way back it sounded like, had a hood scoope for the top mount, and had quite a bit of susp. work done as well. It still needed to be painted but that thing was going to look good when is done.

So I lined him with the guy and down shifted to let him know what was up. He chuckled at me, and did the same. I knew at this point I was about ready to get smoked. We both put our machines into the correct gear, and I punched it. He let me get a head start, then he caught up to me, then he laid it on the floor and put about 4 cars on me by the time I hit 100.

He slowed down and I gave him a thumbs up.

It just rained, so the road was damp and I thought I was going to get pwnt. I launched really low rpms, but got a good launch. I actually edged him out! (we only ran to 60mph, its unsafe to run any faster on the crappy MI roads in that section of town!)

Just read that their trannies were weak. Pushing over 3600 lbs, that tranny is struggling! Adding a turbo...Yikes! You may get the last laugh when he scatters that tranny! lol

they are slow and heavy, turbo'ing the stock motor is bad news along with not making much power. i am a previous subaru owner and i have a few friends with svx's. they look cool and sound cool but are terrible sports cars.

It downshifted man? I dont know what to tell ya on that one, it was running straight pipes and it downshifted.

Any way auto trannies still have to downshift to unless they are those new werid CVT things.

lol yeah they only came Automatic 4 speed with 2nd gear "manual mode" to eliminate 1st to 2nd gear gear slippage and "power mode" to raise shift points for stronger acceleration
So idk unless he had an ass load of money for a swap

There was a shitton of work done to this car. It wouldnt have surpised me if he had done a manual swap/motor swap.

yeah id say thats the only way but i think only certin boxed engines would work im not sure but i know my buddy looked into it for his and it was way over what the cars worth lol

This guy actually had a top mount intercooler on it and full susp. so I think this guy was going all the way with it.

Those trannys are GARBAGE. You can almost count on having to replace them before the water pump on most vehicles.

Some company out of Australia makes adapter plates for the EJ20 tranny I think. Either way, I have a good friend back in ND that is shoehorning an SVX motor into his 2000 2.5RS. He was the one that told me about the adapter plates.

There is alil pc of heat wrapping hanging down off my exhaust pipe, you can find this right under the passenger door that is in the picture.
