just
dont
cut
your
springs

its
stupid

and dude if you have to ask what you do to cut them then you shouldnt cut them

but if you must know

only cut 1 coil off.

you have to get a spring compressor to dissasemble the spring strut assembly

then take a hack saw, rotary cutoff tool, plasma torch, sawzaw, something that will cut metal. dremel will actually do it... with alot of blades. lol

Then don't cut your springs. That will DESTROY your suspension. It will be bouncy then blow out the struts and be SUPER bouncy.

Roflcopter at this thread.

Dude, if you can't figure out how to do it, don't.
It's not hard, but I've seen alot of cars fucked up because people either heat them to cut them, and warp the spring, or break them when cutting them, or cut it where it wont line up on the perch like it should. IE, how my coupe was dropped when I bought it.
Just sell it before you fuck it all up.
Kthnksbi!

cuttin springs hmmm i did that once longggggggg time ago but i would not advise it you'll have to get rebound rubbers just to stop the thing from trying to ram a hole thru the body if u hit in a pothole and it'll be pretty uncomfortable anyways. save and buy some good suspension

Don't cut them! You can get some lowering springs for under $100.

Its a really bad idea to cut your springs. The ride will be horrible and you will hate it...

It will blow your shocks because the spring rate is matched to your dampening rate on your stock suspension. When you change the length of your springs and don't change the spring rate to be stiffer to compensate for the lost coil, the shock can't keep up and extra load is put onto it, destroying it.

I'm not saying these are great quality but it will be WORLDS better than cut springs:

I've used a set of $100 springs on my old integra. They worked just fine. A little stiff but I wasn't scared that they wouldn't function properly. They were Drop Zones... Now I would just save my money and buy full coilovers but back in the day the Drop Zones were just fine for what I wanted.

please go ebay instead of doing this, that way when you are mad dori for the first time your spring doesn't slip it's perch, puncture your tire and cause you to roll your car and make me wake up to come cut you outta your car @4am

cutting springs=bad idea
yeah, there are some people who say do it, but just save up a little bit of money and get some new springs. you might even end up saving a lot of money that way.

but once you get some springs, or cut them if you choose to do that, dont forget to go get an alignment. you'll probably need some camber plates though, because you are going to have some negative camber going on and you will wear through a set of tires like crazy.

just save your money for actual coilovers and adjustable suspension parts. why spend the money twice?

if you wanna be cheap then do it.
you'll end up spending money on a different suspension setup anyways.

do it and ride on it and save for coilovers.
