View Full Version : Nail in tire
The nail is in my tire but it hasn't came out the other side so do you think it would be ok if I took it out?
I would think if I left it in when the tire starts to ware down the nail would go deeper.
No I'm not buying a new tire. I'm not rich so lets keep that in mind.

tires are free at places, spend 3 bucks at walmart with a junk tire and replace it.
No. I got it for free with and it's has 50% still left on it. They look new and I really don't want to spend money if I don't have to. So I'm trying to figure out on what to do. Go around and look some more for free tires or something.
Now I would get a junk tire if they actually were 3 bucks but they are more like $30-40 and I can't get a spare.

go to a tire place
ask them if they have any old tires in the back throw away bin that you could grab.
Take 10 minutes and search through til you find your size. Bring a jack, and that tire, go to walmart. in the parking lot jack your car up, take off the wheel, and say, "Hey i have this tire with a nail in it. And I have this tire that is good. I want the good tire on this rim. I will take the bad tire. I do not want balancing, and I do not want it mounted. I have cash for the $3.00 mounting. That will be all that is necesasry. Oh yes, by the way the tread IS over .3 of an inch, so there is no liability for you or your company in mounting it. Thank you very kindly."
Then put the wheel back on and be on your merry way.

if its on the tread. patch kit
go to walmart. its in a yellow box.
it has rubber glue and rubber things you mash into the hole. ive patched an atv tire 50 + times. and you are legally alowed to patch a tire if the nail or hole is on the TREAD> you will get a blowout if you patch a sidewall.
I can see you've done this before haha thanks
EDIT: I'll take a picture h/o

ok this is what you do to find out if its leaking air: air your tire up to 40-45 psi then spray the nail with windex or water, if it starts bubbling then it is leaking, but if not then just pull that bitch out

Wait wait, how did you dismount the tire already?? But yeah, if its more than an inch from the side wall then patching it (if it is even leaking) shouldnt be hard at all for any tire shop.
Or just DIY :)

Go buy some tire slime and put it in the tire, and pull the nail.
Or just go to any tire place and get it plugged.
Yeah I replaced the my old tires. But the nail that was in the tire was 2cm. So it's not that big of a deal. :goodjob:
