but it will have a ford motor... haha so it will be straight with a 302 in it? maybe at like 450hp at the most

You should be fine. Especially with street tires.

And if you think Ford rear ends are weak, then why does everyone and their mom use a 9inch.

shouldnt be a problem.....

should keep the motor in a mustang. why make 400 in a 302 and i can make 400 in an sr and still be faster and more nimble and more reliable and less gas.?

cheaper?

Should be fine.

Maybe if you go to a drag strip and run slicks. Might break an axel if you jsut rape it off the line.

i've seen welded 240 diffs take 900hp.
the mainstream s2000 has a welded 240sx diff and its takes 650whp launches on 28" slicks no problem

not a band wagon. its practicallity and reliability. the motor is proven to be superior than another motors for that chassis for the most common purposes. cost, purpose and benefits. they are of course other options. really depends on the driving style..etc

yes you can put in another motor hell, you can even fab to install a w8 motor.

if you or anybody is deciding a different motor for the s chassis and the sole purpose is to be different, ( there should be other supporting reasons to your decision), is a complete tool. they do not understand or know what they want, to begin with. most of these people have no realistic goals. there is a reason why nissan decide on that motor and stayed with that motor for 12 years in the s-chassis, until its production run.

i am sure your sole decision is not based on that, so if you want a 302 in the s chassis to turn it into a drag car, by all means its a very good/feasible option. but dont say its a bandwagon just like other ricers who dont know the fundamentals of even the simplest characteristics of the motor and chassis combination. those people sholdnt even bother and stay in school, keep it on the streets and try to impress other with their worthless time spent on your cars, coz enthusiast's dont care.

i am not pointing at you in anyways, but i am sick of hearing people tell me its a bndwagon and want to be different. if so, buy a renault, volvo station wagon, alfa or even a delorean, then you are different.

you are not building it because you want it to be different from a "bandwagon". you already know what i mean, no explainantions needed. its because you can.

Things are popular for a reason.

I would stick with the SR.

Exactly. all of my cars are different in the first place. i want to put a 302 in my 240 because i can.

Do you think no one has ever put a 302 in a 240 before? Maybe if you just search around on the internet or forums like FA or alike. But in the real world, last time I went to the drag strip. There was around 100 cars there. Of which 40% were v8 swapped vehicles that didn't have them to begin with. Including a couple datsuns with big blocks.

Yeah going to the drag strip in a car that didn't have a v8 that now does and running a decent time is the biggest band wagon in the world.

On a side note:
I was the only 240 owner there.
I was the only 4 cylendar owner there
I was the only import powered import car there period.
Not a single person came up to me and said "Oh, an SR? That's so played out." I amazed all the dumb rednecks when a almost stock SR beat my dad's buddies big block.

If you could somehow make a badge that said 302sx then you would be different. :)

On a side note, going with a 351w is basically the same price and loads more potential (hello 408sx?). Stock 302 blocks start breaking quickly when you close in on 500hp.

santacruz77
05-02-2007, 02:51 PM
i wont be that close honestly but it would be a 500sx and im getting one made

miatas are bad ass i just like the carb'd 5.0 motors did meen to offend the sr's ha

my best friend back in FL has a DeLorean with 18k original miles on it. he turbocharged it and built a custom motor for it. he also taught me everything that i know about engines and turbos.

he has 3 motors for the DeLorean and ran a 13.3 @ 105 the first time down the track on 5 lbs when he was really there to begin tuning/dialing it in with Megasquirt. i have some pic's of it but they are on my external HD which i left at work today.
