I have some wheels that I want to buy for my DD but two of the tires are bad but I have another set of wheels that have good tires so I want to dis-mount them and mount them on the other rims.

Discount tire wants $60 to dis-mount two tires and mount and balance them on two other rims, which I find rediculous because it is so easy to do as long as your have the equipment.

So if anyone has access to equipment I am willing to pay cash if it is side work, again it is soooo easy if you have the equipment.

If you're ever in the Gainesville area, the section of Atlanta Hwy that is predominantly Hispanic has a few tire places. They will mount and balance tires for pretty cheap, especially if you pay cash. They also usually have some decent used tires for cheap.

Go to a walmart tire center. Buy them a 6 pack of beer & they'll do it for free.

Or $10 per tire! lol Last time I was there they wanted to charge me for tire disposal fee. I told them I would keep the old tires. Picked up the newer tires/rims and did not see the old ones, so I just left.

I dunno what Discount's prices are, but Sears charges $10 a mount and depending on the size of the wheel, balancing can be anywhere from $10.99 to $14.99 per tire.

Worst case scenario at Sears, it would be $49.98 since it's all labor which is non-taxable. That would be the cost at my location at least.

When I tried to get some tires mounted at the Sears in Athens, they told me they wouldn't mount tires that I didn't buy from them for liability reasons. I used to work there too, and they still wouldn't do it for me.

That's bullshit for them to say that.

We'll mount any tire as long as it's safe for the road, meaning no damage, no secondary rubber. If they were brand new tires, they should've done it. That's why they have charges in the computer for 'Non SAC (Sears Auto Center) tire mount - $10'

When you buy tires FROM them they don't charge you mounting, just balancing and $3.00 in fees when they install them.

They were probably just being lazy. I went there about 20 minutes before they were going to close, so maybe that's what it was..

Amigo tire, hispanic shop name, but owned by friendly Jamaicans!
LoL they always hook me up with 13's and 14's on the cheap.

If your anywhere up near chamblee check GTE. I don't know what exactly they charge just for mounting/dismounting i usually get tires from them so they mount em.
