Your Interior DUH!

*UPDATED*

Alright, well I completely forgot to take pictures early on in the process, but I will post what I have, and its fairly straight forward, I just wanted to contribute.

Things you need for this project-

Basic tools to take the interior out (sockets, screw driver, ect.)
Razor Blade
Dry Ice or Torch (Don***8217;t forget to use protection..)
Chisel
Hammer
WD40
Something to spread the WD40 with
Scotch Brite or Brillo Pads
Paper towels
Acetone (optional)
Drill
Wire brush (for drill)

First off, Take out the center console, then dash, and everything behind it. I have my A/C removed anyways, so there is nothing back there. But if you do have it, you will need to remove the boxes in order to get to the back carpeting.

After you have that out, remove seats, seatbelts, trim, door trim, etc. Pull up the carpet, and the carpeting on the firewall. Its a bitch, and you might have to pull off the brake pedal in order to get it out. I used a razorblade and just cut it until I could pull it all out.

You should now have this minus the carpeting on the firewall:

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/carina240sx/Interior8.jpg

This part is a bitch to get out..:

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/carina240sx/Interior9.jpg

Now you get to the fun part. You now have all this damn sound deadening on the floor. Go buy a hammer, chisel set, and either some dry ice or a torch/heat gun. Dry Ice is probably the better bet. I tried both. You can get dry ice at your local grocery store.

The Dry Ice will harden the glue beneath the sound deadening and will allow you to bang the hell out of the floorboards, and it will come up in chunks.. Sometimes. But most of the time you will have to chisel it out.

After you have all that removed, you will still have tons of small patches of sound deadening and glue. Get a Gallon of WD40, and soak the floor panels and such with it. I used a painters brush type thing to get it everywhere. It ate through my sponge I tried to use initially. *Make sure you pull up the wiring harness's before you do this. The WD40 can eat through the glue in the tape and make it all unravel..*

After an hour or so you can start using some kind of abrasive brush to scrub it off. Brillo Pad, Scotch brite pad, whatever you have laying around.

After scrubbing it everywhere you should have this:

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/carina240sx/Interior5.jpg

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/carina240sx/Interior3.jpg

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/carina240sx/Interior2.jpg

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/carina240sx/Interior1.jpg

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/carina240sx/Interior.jpg

Now you can start wiping it all up. I used acetone and paper towels. There is probably an easier way, but water doesn't work.. And the acetone evaporates fast.

After you have it all off, you will notice there are still little spots of sound deadening that survived your WD40 bath. Well, instead of doing it all again, I just got a wire brush and a drill and went to town. Doesn't take that long, and beats the hell out of cleaning up WD40.

After that, you should be looking like the back seats are in this pic:

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/carina240sx/Interior6.jpg

And that***8217;s as far as I got today! I'll update it tomorrow when I have everything done with the wire brush, and hopefully painted!

We got done with the wire brush. It was really clean.

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/carina240sx/cars/Day2010.jpg

Tape off anything you dont want painted. Windows. Doors. Pedals. Etc.

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/carina240sx/cars/Day2013.jpg

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/carina240sx/cars/Day2015.jpg

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/carina240sx/cars/Day3028.jpg

Wipe down everything really well with Acetone. Dries quick and gets all the dust out. Now its ready to paint.

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/carina240sx/cars/Day3031.jpg

Pick your color. Start the painting!!

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/carina240sx/cars/Day3036.jpg

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/carina240sx/cars/Day3041.jpg

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/carina240sx/cars/Day3039.jpg

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/carina240sx/cars/Day3044.jpg

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/carina240sx/cars/Day3042.jpg

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/carina240sx/cars/Day3045.jpg

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/carina240sx/cars/Day3046.jpg

Then you can do an optional clear coat. It will protect your color and not let oil or whatever mess it up.

Hope someone got something out of this. LoL..

Let me know if there are any questions or you know of an easier way!

Well if we actually worked on it all day, probably a day or two. But I just worked on it when I could. Today and yesterday I worked on it for a good bit, where I got the most done. So I would say.. Maybe 2-3 Days start to finish? Sitting in there kills your back, butt and knee's.

Should'nt you leave that stuff there if you want the cabin to be quieter? Or are you planning on stripping it and replacing with dynomat or rinoliner or something like that?

The car actually isnt really that loud since I took all of the sound deadening out.

Only thing different is that you can hear every rock hit the car!

But overall I like all the interior out, looks really clean!

Here are a couple updated pics from today. There are many more, but I know Carina likes to do her own write ups, so I'll let her do all that.

These are after MANY hours later with the wire brush, and gutting the whole car to get it read for paint.

Dirty?? That is just what it looks like when you take out the interior..

And not really a track car. Some track but mostly just a fast DD. Just wanted the inside to look nice.
