help with noob question

So I'm fooling around with my car and I encounter this unit...its under the dash on an auto car. can anyone help me identify it? I know its not abs unit or ecu...

Upon further investigation i find there is an a/t control unit, but fsm doesn't tell me where it is, can anyone confirm if this is in fact what it is and do I need it now that i'm going 5spd?

Thats good news fellas, because it was kinda in the way of my new clutch pedal

Since I'm going to be using a 5spd ecu, I suppose it shouldn't throw a code..
