Going to Chiang Mai, Thailand to train Thai boxing at Lanna soon. I'll have more info as soon as we figure out what's up...I'll be staying at Cherry Mart which is roughly $75-$80 a MONTH (and I mean hot water/bathroom/spacious rooming/ect included). There is an internet cafe so hopefully I will stay in touch with some crazy photos...
We're renting 150cc mopeds, no license/insurance/ect needed, $40 a month rent...
Holy cheap living!!!! Make sure to take TONS of pics. I'd love to see what it's like over there... Good luck with the trip and everything!
How long do you plan on staying over there?
Joshua

I'll only be gone a month, "conditioning session" as they call it. My Kruu had a student stay for 1 and a half years, training every single day for 545 odd days...And when I say "train" I mean train...6+ hours a day.

Cheap living does sound good but how much is that plane ticket?
Joshua

My plane ticket is higher than the entire month in Thailand, $645 round trip.
If you're into martial arts ever hear a news story about a karate teacher named Chip Mize that killed his father years back?
Joshua
04-27-2007, 10:29 AM
No, never really followed Karate.
Ah, he was my martial arts teacher back in the day and ended up in the news for killing his father with a steak knife... Kinda crazy :-\.
Wow you must be a badass. You should start hanging out with me because I'm the opposite of a badass. I'm the kinda guy that doesn't like to take crap from anyone, but unfortunately I usually can't do anything about it. So I'll just stand up to some guy bigger than me if he pisses me off and hope the whole time that he doesn't actually do anything.

We aren't allowed to visit Bangkok, "Farang living" so we are allowed bare minimum for training, disrespectful to think higher of native fighters.
Routine:
Awake at 5am
6am Run/jog 5km with short sprints
30 minute skip rope and stretching
8am-12pm devoted to sparring/bag work
12pm-2pm lunch/free time
2pm-6pm same routine as above working different aspects
(say for instance morning we'll run push kicks/thai kicks/knees and afternoon we'll work punching/elbows/throwing)
6pm-9pm free time
9pm-5am sleep
same routine all over again with Sundays off.
Any questions, glad to answer.

My gf just took a job with Delta, so we both get to fly for free whenever we want.
Thialand was my first choice in where to go. What language do they speak in Thialand?

Thai, but most understand english...ie., the newer generation sub 20's years old.
Have fun training, C
damn that sucks... but with a knife?
Yeh, from what I understand he did it with the knife as a kind of respect to martial arts? I dunno...

Haha, I'm not there for car parts but I'll see what I find.
And yes, I like MMA, I loved Pride but UFC owns it now.
I also was a fan of IVC.
I think we should make an MMA thread...

best of luck. hope everything goes well and that you will learn alot about the life and culture there. there is areason why these peolpe are so good even thought majority of them have less pshysical talents then most of their foreigner competitors. alot of it is mental and heart. true champions are made because they chose to.
i gotta feeling someone is gonna get whooped.....lol.
sucks you cant visit bangkok.
chiang mai isnt bad either but there are some crazzzzzzzy shit going on there, i am not comfortable most times...i felt a slight disturbance of oppression behind my head everytime i am there. weird..

It's all heart...Thai fighters have an amazing heart...They seem to never quit.
Outside a ring they are the most humble people you'll ever meet.

Back from Thailand, I didn't stay as long as I liked but it was only really a "feeling out the scene" process. Man...It's weird as hell there. I'll have pics soon, I have to sort through all of the work safe ones. ;D
