Allright I am getting ready to do a 300zx brake upgrade and I am clearly going to need new rotors and wanted to get opinions on what rotors (brand) people are using. Any response is appreciated.

x2. Not crazy expensive, either. Those + good pads will suffice.

It appears that the consensus says Brembo's FTW

Dumb question but if the pad is not touching the surface area does it actually make the breaking better when increasing surface size. Also wouldn't you have to relocate your caliper?

The surface that isnt being touched my the pads will aid in cooling, but if the pads arent touching the surface you are correct the braking will not improve.

NAPA sourced OE blanks.

Like Duke said, larger rotor aids in cooling which means less chance of brake fade. It also looks cooler. And yes, you have to relocate the caliper. That's what the bracket is for in that kit.

Oh I missed the part with the bracket and I agree the larger would look much better.

I was gunna go Brembo Blanks with Hawk pads on my S13 before I got rid of it. Going Brembo slotted with Hawk pads on the FC. But the blanks and a good set of pads are the best bang for your buck. Unless you do an excessive amount of mountain runs or road coarse days slotted with more than likely be overkill for you.

^those do look good^
I think the R33 brakes will be plenty for me though
Bigger rotors ~thicker & taller~ contain more material so heat is spread over a larger area so they don't get as hot and have a larger cooling area and by having the caliper moved away from the hub you give the caliper a bigger lever arm to stop the rotor so the same amount of clamping exerts more force
apparently stock brakes can utilize altima calipers which are the same but slighty taller caliper placement which offers better braking b/c of this

Im agreeing with BlackMage, Im going Brembo blank and Hawk HPS pads I heard it such a great bang for your buck, and I know brembo blanks work well.
