I'm looking to buy a 5 spd crossmember, 5 spd driveshaft, clutch & pressure plate, master cylinder, slave cylinder, shifter assembly, clutch pedal, 5 spd bellhousing bolts, flywheel & bolts, release bearing, clutch long hard line & rubber line. If you have any of these parts, I would definitely like to buy them from you. Cause if you didn't notice from the parts, I'm doing a 5 spd swap. Thanks!

do you have to have the 5spd ecu with a factory auto car, converted to manual ??

Nope. You don't need it. All you have to do is jump the plug that goes to the tranny for an auto. Just lookup a 5 speed swap tutorial and you will find what I'm talking about.

Well you don't need the 5spd ecu, but you will have some cold start issues without it.

well then...
it just might be better to get the 5spd ECU then..
simple ?
do 240s have a cold start injector like some toyota's do ??

I'm sure some wiring is involved shouldn't be too bad, and I'm not sure about the cold start ting...

No, they do not have a cold start injector. And why on earth would there be a cold start issue without the 5 speed ECU? We have done tons of 5 speed swaps with Auto ECU's, and never had an issue.
Oh, and the only wiring involved will be getting the backup lights to work. Everything else is the same. But to get it to start there is nothing hard. You simply clip off a connector, and solder the wires together.

I have done plenty of 5spd swaps and they will sometimes try to stall out when you are running the auto ecu. I have only done 5spd swaps on s14s so that may be different with s13s. You also have to wire up the 5th gear and nuetral sensors as well as the reverse lights.

Are you just reading off here? LoL..
http://www.240sx.org/links/installs/s14_5speed_swap.htm
You don't have to wire up the 5th gear sensor at all. It plugs in.
The neutral sensor is what I am talking about when I say that you have to jump the two wires. It is not something you wire up.
And I mentioned the reverse lights...

The only thing is that every 5spd swap I have done has had cold start issues while running the auto ecu. But like I said all I have done is s14s. Do s13s not have this issue?
hellfire
04-27-2007, 02:57 AM
No. I've never had an issue, whether it be S13 or S14. I have proof sitting outside. Auto ECU, No starting problems, 5 speed. Maybe your motor just sucked. LoL..

lol...Idk why I seem to have this problem and you don't. Most of the time I have a 5spd ecu by the time I do the swap. But the few times that I have not the car wants to stall out on cold start. Maybe its only happens to s14s and maybe only with OBDll. I know that I am not the only person who has experienced this.

did you twist any wires togather instead of solder them?
low voltage... eh
bad connection possible
i dunno just random thoughts ive never done a swap.
but definatly solder every wire you have to splice.
only proper way to do it.
oh and on cold start ... the engine usually kicks a little rich right?
maybe that has something to do with it...
cuz if its running too rich tuned already and you try to start cold the ecu wants it to run even more rich.
i dunno
just thoughts
im not sure at all lol
