We are now Killswitch Performance
Prices you see listed in this thread, MAY or may not still be current. For any price quote, just give us a call, or shoot me a PM.
Thanks!
Tyler
Just letting you all know there is an alternative to paying 1500-2k at a shop, and have your car down for weeks.
I'll do your SR swap, plus wiring for ~500. Depending on whatever else you need done at the same time. I can also install anything you need while I'm at it. ARP Headstuds, Headgasket, Etc.
I can have a basic swap done in a day. Motor work done, or 5 speed swap might take a little longer, but will still be quick.
Just trying to make a little cash on the side, and help some people out.
Can also do:
Wiring (including relocating fuse box under the dash)
5 speed swaps
Diff Installs
Coilovers
Brake Installs
Front Ends
Body Kits
Overfenders
Boost Controller/Guage/SAFC's/Etc Install
FMIC's
Exhaust
Headgaskets
The list could go on and on. Just if you need something done, let me know.
Pics below are just a few of the swaps I have done, the ones I could find quickly.
Give us a call if you are interested.

Thanks!

Haha.. I don't have a pipe bender. But if I did.. I would. :)
But really, my friend knows a guy that just bought a mandrel bender, and supposedly is making exhausts for local people wicked cheap. I'll try and find his number for you.
And damnit, are you ever going to take this block out of my Garage?!

I'll find out for you. I forgot exactly which friend was talking about it, so it might be a bit. But you know that will be wicked loud.. I had 3in straight back on my VR4.. Almost unbearably loud. I could drive through the mall parking lot, and set off every car alarm there.

too cheap....
$500 for a day of work isn't too cheap. I think that's a pretty fair price for someone to pay if they don't know how to do a swap or don't have time to do a swap.
hellfire
04-26-2007, 04:30 PM
Hey too cheap isn't a bad thing. If I feel I am getting overwhelmed with work, the price might go up eventually. Also if I end up renting a shop in the next couple months. But for now I can swing $500.
Exactly. I'm not looking to get rich, and obviously I'm not a shop, so I can't ask 1500 for a swap.
But at the same time, I bet you will get quicker turn around. Better service, and have it done cheaper with us. :)

How long should it take me to swap a head gasket?

about a day, make sure you pull the head right(loosen the bolts in the right pattern, so you dont warp the head)
hellfire
04-27-2007, 03:53 AM
Well honestly, if the headgasket is blown, the head is already warped. Still obviously go by Nissan Specs when taking the head off, but it wont really matter.
And make sure you get the head decked. So really it will take 2-3 days to do the swap.
Day 1 take off the head.
Day 2 have it decked
Day 3 reassemble.
Also, remember to RTV under and above where the headgasket goes around the timing chain. If not you will leak oil from there. You will hate your life if you forget, and its very easy to do.

Just do a compression test. If you have low compression then its HG.
Tyler
I hope you have a business license. Working on all those cars may cross the line, legally speaking. If shop owners find out you're undercutting them (which is very possible considering you're advertising on a forum) they may come after you. Be carefull with you attempts to make some extra money. I'm sure you don't want to piss off some honest business owners.

05-06-2007, 03:22 PM
Haha, You just have to tell me what you still want in the car and everything. Like on Carina's we took out everything. So the only wires still going in to th engine bay are for the headlights. But I can do it any way you want. Just let me know.

It would be best to delete anything you are going to at one time. That way, you (or I, LoL..) don't have to pull the whole thing again later. Better a one time thing.

Yea I just have to glance around and see whats gonna be "optional". I will probobly paint the engine bay while I rebuild the motor when it comes time. So I would want it as clean as possible

Hey Carina said you wanted a pic of the Fuse Box Relo I did on her car.
Here is the only picture I have uploaded at the moment.
http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/carina240sx/New002-1.jpg
The wires you see where the fuse box used to be are wires from the engine harness, which was a spare laying around that we used just to get her motor in and running quickly. As you can see, or not see actually, there is no fusebox, or wiring.

Tyler,
I may be looking for someone to help me with some wiring, if you're interested. I have an S13 coupe that is going to be a track car, it's a pignose car, I just dropped a dohc motor in, I just need to simplify everything so that the motor will run, and everything else gets stripped out, and then start from scratch.
All I need is a push button start and a fuel pump switch to start with, and then I can worry about getting lights to work, putting in some guages, etc.
I'm going to take a look at it tommorrow and see if it looks simple enough to do it myself, which I'm not counting on. Then I'll be back in touch with you, if you're interested in helping me.

hey hey hey tyler can i use an ae68 corolla oil filter on my sr30dett ?
damn ballers and their sr30dett, what you do is:
a) drill hole 1" wide down center of AExx oil filter
b) Stuff freshly drilled hole with aluminum foil
c) Carefully twist and thread to block
d) Fail slowly
e) post :pics:

I've got everything necessary, but the problem I had with the original hardline (the thick one along the firewall) was it was too low and the motor was about to crush it, it just needs to be lengthened, and bent a little differently. I think there are some other lines that may need to be changed- I've got to wait until I get my car back until I can really measure some things up and figure it out.

I would definitely get the head checked but I would rather not get it decked if I didn't have to. removing material is only going to make it more likely to fail in the future. There are to many people out the just cutting, welding, etc... just b/c it fixes the problem right now. I'm sure when Nissan built that head, they didn't give you guys a ton of fudge room to keep remachining the head.
Also on a side note, Tyler I would be very careful. This little weekend shop you are running is putting you in a very bad position if you are ever to get caught. I love making a little money here and there doing odd jobs like these but it won't be worth it if something important fails. Remember, everybody in this world has a mommy and she won't care if you guys were friends.
Take my advice, or don't, I don't really care, but now you know.

^ those are wise words.
consideration taken, thanks!
it's nice to have someone like tyler who is skilled and trustworthy to work on your car. especially when he can do it for a good price and there's not much downtime. i've heard stories about people taking their car to a shop to have something simple done like having ic piping made, and they don't get their car back for a week or more. and then there's tyler who will do your entire swap for you in just a couple days.
brandon, however, does have a good point. part of the reason tyler is able to charge much less than a shop is because he's a nice guy, but also, and more importantly, he has much less overhead. it would be terrible for tyler if a shop felt that tyler was stealing business and decided to file a complaint. the fine for running a business without a license is pretty hefty. It's a per day fine, and it's retroactive. That means that as far back as they can prove that you have been operating a business illegally, you will have to pay.
i know tyler doesn't call his services a business, and he may not think of it as a business, but legally i think it would be considered a business. offering services for profit. i don't know exactly how tyler manages this operation, so i can't say what he's legally doing wrong and what he's doing right. if profits are going unclaimed, then they are not being taxed which is tax evasion. there may be so much profit that can go unclaimed legally, but at a certain point you have to start paying taxes on what you're profiting. i would imagine it's similar to contract labor where you can make up to $500 untaxed contract labor per year or something like that.
brandon's post may sound a bit abrasive, but i think he has made a good point and is actually trying to look out for tyler, as well as his customers. i just recently took a business law class, so i found this whole subject interesting and wanted to post my thoughts.
i think tyler is a good guy, and i wouldn't hesitate sending someone his way to have work done. i also agree with brandon though, that tyler should be careful.
Casey
08-02-2007, 04:47 PM
yea... to be honest it doesnt cost much to get a buisness licence... go ahead and get one. becuase i can see a shop like mainstream getting on here and noticing the "unsatisfied with mainstream performance" thread and then seeing "need a swap done cheap?" cuz inadvertently you are taking buisness away from local shops. just turn into a local shop legally and no one has anything on you.

It looks like you could, you might have to undo the little A frame looking things that bolt to the side of the motor, but maybe not. But I would assume you'd want to support the motor with an engine hoist.
Has anyone ever removed the engine from the bottom? I've read magazines say its easier but never done it.
Casey
08-22-2007, 07:33 PM
yeah i think its just a matter of oppinion... you can use gravity to your advantage by dropping the motor down...
or you can pull the motor up and reduce the risk of breaking things because you know where everything is and the clearances you have...
i would immagine the plenum and exhaust manifold would come realy close to hitting the frame....
and yeah you just unbolt the front crossmember...
Dominic49

You just simply raise the motor after you have unbolted the mounts from both locations. Slide in new mounts, bolt them up, done.
Tyler

raise the motor from x-member while car is on ground? i can also use the lift at school but i got 1 1/2 hrs to do so. should i just get oem mounts or some awsome nismo mounts or after market. any BIG difference?
Hammerhead-i Eaglethrust
08-23-2007, 02:55 AM
Nismos are stiffer. Ask godisintheradio where he got his, I can't remember, or go look at his members journal thread, he got them somewhere for $150, which is pretty cheap. Or if you don't want to go that route, buy his old ones.
babowc
08-23-2007, 03:25 AM
afaik, you cant change mm without lifting the motor up.
think about it.
you drop front crossmember, motor drops with it.
just lift the motor up maybe a couple inches and swap it out real fast.
you'd need a picker.
1.5 hrs should be plenty, given you'd know what to do exactly without any downtime.

Everyone should know when they buy a 15 to 18 year old 240 that odds are its a complete piece of shit that needs attention to every angle. A lot can happen in 18 years, ten years ago an 18 year old car was usually as good as worm food, the fact its running should be amazing enough. How much more would you have paid for the car if everything was already fixed and perfect? What's that? You wouldn't have been able to afford it? Yeah thats what I thought...
I have yet to own an S13 that was worth a damn. Plenty of potential, yes, but if you want to tap into it, you're going to have to do some work. I get sick of people expecting a perfect 240 when they go looking for one. Those exist, but you either have to shell out cash, or build it yourself. Complaining about little crap like this on a thread where someone is trying to offer services is petty.

Is there anything wrong with performing a public service? I don't think so.

So $750 includes what? Just the install of the new motor but it still won't drive? Or do you install the FMIC make sure the tach and speedo work etc so the car will drive out the door.
First off, this thread is VERY old. We now no longer work out of where we were. Have full business license, etc. We have our 8,000 sq ft building, etc.
But $750 includes SMIC install, and all wiring, everything to finish your car. If you want FMIC install, its extra. BOV welded on piping, extra, etc.

holy crap, this is awsome. im may be buying a 240 for 200 (assuming the guy is telling the truth about whats wrong with it). that would be so awsome, a 240 with and sr for a total of 700. dude, my god, i guess i can hold off on the drifting for like another couple of mnths, this would be so worth while. i guess ill start drifting on the tracks this summer instead.
ok, just read the newer posts, $950 total for a 240sx with an sr is still awsome.

oh well. and yeah, ive been finding lots of great deals lately on stuff,, i suppose that is why i was so hopefull.
example, my mustang cost 2400 (without tax an stuff) when it should have been 6K. also my cobra wheels were like 300 hundred with the well worn tires for like 300. shit dude, thats like 1/6th the price it is for the rims alone brand new. and assuming that guy is telling the truth that only the engine is blown and the body is good except one dent, im virtualy stealing that 240 for $200 (still need to check out car).
yeah, i was pretty hopefull

Tylernah, ill take the advice from my dad and not give out any info about it till i see for myself. dont want no body to snatch a deal before i do. i bought my wheels from him. Its a guy i met randomly on the street. then he asked if i needed wheels, i did, he brought, i bought and during the course of that he asked if i knew if anybody was interested in a 240 with a blown motor.
i just need my friggen paycheck to come in monday.

A $200 240 doesn't require much checking. It would have to have been in a crusher or completely stripped down to the bone not to be able to recoup more than $200.

doesn't matter, buy first, ask questions later at that price. All I was saying was that if it was too far gone, then you could always make money on it. You know that.
