That car is almost definitely stolen. There's no title, and the guy pretty much has no idea what the hells on the car. He says he's selling it for a friend, but what kinda friend are you if you don't know anything about his car. Sure, maybe you've never ridden in it, but damn man, he needs to get some info from his friend on the car before he tries to sell it to someone who could quite possibly be more knowledgable than him and get pissed because what he said was on the car really wasn't...
just my $.02

someone on IA offered him $500 for it lol
this is what he told me lol:
Im not going to defend myself or the guy who is holding the car but I can say with 100% certainty theres no fishy business with the car.
I met the guy 2 months ago when I purchased my DD from him. He specializes in buying salvage vehicles and either repairing or parting them out. He owns a reputable business, is semi-well known in Miata racing and is a completely normal non-sketchy person. I have nothing to gain from the sale of this car, just trying to get the word out for him because he doesnt get on forums much and I told him I could probably find some interested parties.
sofo259, you assume way too much and will eat your words when someone picks this car up. It's an S13 with an SR20DET. I never made any statements about the car that couldnt be backed up so I'm not sure what all of this talk is about misleading advertising you're spouting off is all about. I've swapped plenty of KA's, SR's and have done some maintenance on an RB and I know a decent bit about the S13. I'd never try to mis-represent the car because a) I have nothing to gain from selling it b) I have a blemish-free reputation on the internets as far as buying and selling goes and I wouldnt involve myself in anything less than a legitimate transaction.
I would have ridden in it/driven it today if the keys had been at the shop. Most likely I'll never get a ride in it because it'll be gone before I get the chance to go back out there and check it out again. True I don't know the whole story about the car. I only went and checked it out today on my lunch break and it was across town. If I had $3k laying around and a truck to haul it with, I'd pick it up in a heartbeat. Either that or part it out and make a few bucks.

He should've posted that as the original post. It makes a little bit more sense. He's not really his friend, just an acquaintance...
