View Full Version : I Need More People coming to my Emission's Station!!!!!
v-empire

i just opened an emissions station up here in cumming.........i need more cars to make it monthly. its usually slow when you start until people start to know where you are, but this is ridiculous.....!
it will help if those of you up here in Cumming, would send everyone in your mother down this way who needs their cars tested or spread the word for those birthday people.
trying to get the machine working for 95 and older but all newer cars are welcome for now.
spread the word for you locals.......
any other suggestions, i dont know this area well, and i am still learning about the commnity around this area.
I will give a free carwash coupon with every emissions test.
marketing experts.......give some feedback. i need people working at shops around the area who do not provide this service to send some over.....
if you are around the area, stop by and say hi. i will be here from 8-6 ish during most days.
ps..dont ask stupid questions that will jepeordize my operation while online either. i know what you guys are thinking....so stop it now.....lol
veterans memorial blvd next to the napa autoparts store. its in the Forsyth Carwash! 1/2 mile from downntown cumming. hwy 400 exit 14 towards cumming, go straight no turns through lights, and its on the left.
hope to see some of you here. i am very nice, pleasent and sexy, you cant miss me.
dont forget to give feedback also........

Do you have any cards we can help pass out to friends?
v-empire
04-18-2007, 01:02 PM
thanks guys.... i am glad you guys are willing to help. i dont expect you to drive all the way up to cumming just to get a test, but i will be extremely glad if you came up here to visit, get a test and a carwash.
i will be able to do 95 and older pretty soon, i purchase a dyno, installed and waiting for software and approval from the state, probably by the end of next week i should be up and running with the dyno. 96 and newer i can do for now.
i have tons of cards to give out but i probably need to get more coupons for carwashes. i just need to spread the word around the local cumming area to get more people to know that i am here and open.
i was thinking of bikini car wash day and emissions and a cookout.... with ladies and food..i know, kinda crooked using my lady friends but you know it works and people driving by will look and will know we are in business.
we can hang out one weekend and relax, get our carwash and those whose parents cars need emission work done.....can drive it up..etc.
what do you guys think of that? any other suggestions......

lol i was just curious..... i've been a big fan of their 240RS project since well before i saw them at VIR ^_^. I've also spoken with Bill through email a few times asking various tire setup questions and about a few other chassis inquires i had regarding their hatch.
designed or fabbed? hm.. not much i can think of.... only thing i'd truly want to get done that i have no idea who to ask for help form would be adapting c6 z06 6pot brakes to my car ^_^..... unfortunately they are 5x120mm not 114.3. Those calipers are so dirt cheap (200$ each from GM) its temping to just buy the shit and figure the rest out later lol.

it can be done easily, i can show you how if you would like. but first do a cost benefit analysis and see if its worth it for you.
look at other options for brakes, rotors, pads, calipers....i thought about the six pot from the z06 but there are other better 4 pots with less weight and better stopping power with more accessible rotors, hats, and pads.
just think about it for a second. if its worth spending xxx amount of dollars?... what can xxx give you for other money?.......think bling factor and performance........gm six pot or hmm... F1 style brakes for the same price? pad options now...which manufacturer or how easy, expensive, best product...then rotors? two piece bling or one pience slottled or drilled or both or blank? fabricating costs?
learn the dynamics and decide.
you ll find out there is a bunch of options and your choice will be more meaningful.
brakes are indeed important, i won a stupid meaningless race tonight because i had better stopping power. my friends and i were screwing around in the cars and was takling about it after. he had alot faster car, i had a stock 1.6 miata...total car balance wins races.

Thanks for the response. I'd be interested in hearing whats involved in the conversion from the 5x120 to 5x114.3 but throw that too me in a pm so we don't get too off topic here.
price wise, the 6 pots + rotors would cost about 600 + w/e it would cost to convert them (i.e. new lines, pads, adapter for bolting the caliper on, and changing out 5x120 for 5x114.3)... cost wise comparison it runs a few hundred more exp than the z32 swap and still about 500 or so cheaper than doing front and rear sti/evo brembo swap. and by F1 brakes wth did you mean? lol
my only major concern is the fact that the z06 rotors are 355m.... meaning theres a pretty good chance it wouldn't fit under my volk 17x9.5's. I'd be worried about the top of the caliper making contact with the inner edge of the rim.
anyways... its down to this or saving a while longer going to greddy for their grex bbk
v-empire
04-20-2007, 03:20 PM
should fit on yor wheels. two piece rotors, you get the rotor dia. and thickness size you want and they sell brake hats that bolt to the rotor with the 5X114.3 with the offsett you want.
or you can use a different one piece rotor all together, just use their calipers. doesnt have to be the same application.
F1 racing uses mostly AP's and Bremobo's. diameter should not be larger than 278mm and not thicker than 28mm. no more than 6 piston.
http://www.formula1.com/insight/rulesandregs/21/5261.html
so you see there are better options for the conversion. fabricating the calipers is the same procedure, just measurements to the application.
now they sell z33 rotor kit that uses z32 calipers for like 100 bucks. exc rotors. i dunno what your car's application is for, but good chance you are over doing it and just for for looks. if it is....then yeah, you spend the money, if for a street car or weekend race car stopping power, z32 are more than awesome already with sick pads and rotors, if money is an issue.
MrBojangles
04-20-2007, 05:21 PM
who is "they" in that sentance about the brake hats, DSG?.
that f1 link is simply the rules regarding size of brakes allowed in F1. remember those are the sizes allowed for what.. 700 kg machines? Just saying, those sizes are irrelavant IMO to street cars though I do agree that Brembo and AP make some amazing products.
v-empire
04-20-2007, 05:42 PM
"they" meaning manufacturers. there are alot of manufacturers making brake hats, wilwood, brembo..and other smaller machine shops. you have to search but you will find them. i cant remember, there was a small company i ve used to make rotors and hats for a decent price. but there were plenty if i recall. i will get you the name if i remember.
as far as a 700kg car, F1 testing is an applicable science, the extreme of asphalt abuse on any vehicle. if its good enough to stop 215 mph in a short distance and keep repeating the process with minimal brake fade and over heating and longevity, i would assume is good for stopping any street car. the G forces pulled out from the car is insane and you car will never hit those factors. 190mph and to 35 mph about 100 yards before the turn in... inertia compensate for the weight plenty. my corolla weighs the same as an F1 car, and no way in hell its stopping that fast in long periods.
the brakes on the F1 car is working alot harder than any of our brakes and street machines.
use the corvete calipers on the F1 car, it wouldnt stop as effieciently i can assure you that. what i was trying to get is that there are other options for the same dollar. different combo's and you will find a suitable decision.
the link was just to make sure i knew i wasnt quoting the wrong specs.
MrBojangles
04-20-2007, 05:48 PM
alright, it's def something to think about.... brakes are a ways away on the list of things to-do anyways (proabably later this summer) so hopefully i can use this time to find out more info on the topic. I am interested at the corvette brakes mainly because GM (regardless of their reputation) did severe testing and development with the new z06 on courses such as the nur and road atlanta and I can't imagine that they would have used this braking setup if it was not suffiecient braking power for the track. it seems at this point that it's the best bang for the buck.
anyways, all points to consider. ps, i'd need a brake bias to go along with... but what about the mc?.... would that need to be upgraded to handle the much larger calipers?
v-empire
04-20-2007, 06:32 PM
in my experience, yes! MC should be upgraded.
wasnt saying the Z06's brakes were bad, for fabrications costs and sake, and total spent, would something else be more cost efficiant?

yes check engine light is a fail for 96 and newer vehicles. you need to find out what it is and swap it out. make sure its the sensor , check with obd2 reader, i think autozone has one, and recheck it to make sure it doesnt show up on your codes after you change it out again.
i close at 6pm on weekdays.

i just need to find out what bank 1 and bank 2 means.

bank one is the cly that is closest to the crank pulley.
hellfire
05-14-2007, 03:20 PM
That makes no sense.
First, a bank isn't a cylinder. So "bank one is the cly" makes no sense.
And secondly, on V motors, the crankpulley is normally on the side of the motor, so both banks are equal distance from the crank pulley...
Just look up a FSM for your moms car. It will tell what bank 1 and 2 are.

Usually stock SR's pass. Ga doesnt do the "visual pass/fail" do they?
and for the GM calipers, a friend down in Fla used the calipers off a CTS-v with either new model Evo or WRX rotors, Only mod he had to do was apply washers to get the clearances right

visual pass fail? nah, only check engine lights for 96 and newer and cat cnoverters for 95 and older.
you can use any calipers on your 240sx just mess with brackets and someties as simple as washer...but how did this questions come around all of a sudden?

I have a 97. what makes it fail?
babowc

I wonder if it's possible to stack cats on each other just for the emissions test.
have two or three laying around.. line em up, bolt em up and get it to axle back.
hahahaha that'd be the shit...
lol, I would like to hear what that sounds like!
Thomas
04-09-2008, 04:43 AM
so it isnt possible to pass with OBD II.
96 and newer have OBDII which must be passed by the computer and 95 and older are OBDI which just has to have a cat and pass the sniffer according to Dom.
If you do an RB25 or SR20 swap into an OBDII car, I'd imagine you won't pass the computer.
