I have also read not so hot reviews, but Ive had 2 and both held up awesome through daily driving and events. Im half convinced these people with issues are installing them wrong or something...

Naw its hit and miss for everyone. Mustang, LS1, 240, DSM, etc, they all have sporadic issues.

The most common from what I have seen is the disk cracking where the springs are located and letting all types of junk go to hell.

Once again though the two I had were awesome :) User error, srsly.

notice how he said my Friend with a 300zx and his grabbed great (rb25 clutch same as NA 300zx) so i should be good, and plus the one i want to get is a 4 puck. there stiffer from the get go right?

True. what would you say the user error was at? Installation or inproper use?

Yep, just read the thread you posted and sounds like someone dont know how to Drive with a Stage 3 Clutch. And he Burnt it up and it just cracked. Stupid DSM Ricers..

Probably installing them wrong, who knows though. It could just be a QC issue.

All i can say is its not with the Product its with the User (Way it is 95% of the time on everything)

dude after looking at that pressure plate you can deffinately tell that he just burnt it up.

I've got a stage 2+ on my CA18. I haven't had any problems with it so far.

Also, Exploder39 has one on his SR and it feels great.

I wasnt talking about that guy in particular, but still even if I burn a clutch to hell I dont expect it to shatter. Thats not good.

Why do you need a damn stage 4???? Is you car making 600lbs??? Why do you need all that grabbing power on a car with light mods? Just get the stage 1 or 2.

I have a spec stage 1 and its rated up to 350lbs. Theres just no point in getting these stage 900 clutches for stock cars. Like this guy in a teg I met the other day. Me- What type of clutch do you have. Guy- stage 5. Me wow how much power do you have?? Guy- 189hp Me-

A buddy of mine back home had on in his TA. Car had 420rwhp and the spec clutch was rated somewhere around 750 I think. But after about 4 passes on slicks it went out.

Spec clutches are kinda shady at best

Like someone else said, its hit or miss and if you MISS you now have to pay double the cost. So you might as well get a brand that HITS every time

Plus, puck clutches suck the balls, drive a twin plate and oyu will never go back to the harshness of a puck clutch.

Pro drifters in D1 - FD use them so I think they would be good...

There are way too many failures to just say they are GOOD

I say get a different clutch, ACT or any Japanese Twin plate

Who wants the possibility to be broke down on the side of the road? Not me

What makes you think his setup won't need 600lbs clutch? :)

Stock... lol. Imagine turbo inlet that would fit a grapefruit...

I <3 twin plate :). I've got a 3 puck on my STi. Its not that bad but it really grabs when you want it to...

Ya I thought about that after I put that. But still most ppl buy the stage 10000 clutches and only have 200hp.

another setup i can do would be a tilton 3 plate setup (400 or so) with custom 3.5# flywheel (750) and HRB (300) but it will hold 500 or 750ftlbs (twin vs triple plate) all day every day

there just arent that many options for clutch and the stock mo-TAR

Its not that bad but it really grabs when you want it to...Well, part of my problem is that TopHat only installed the disk and re-surfaced the flywheel. It's a Competition clutch 6-puck, but they re-used the stock pressure plate. I thought they were installing the entire kit. So, it's a weird feeling clutch. Plus, I don't plan on racing mine much (if I can ever get this wiring issue fixed that causes the car to not start) and will keep the stock turbo until it goes so the Exedy will make for a better around town clutch.

lol..i got one that wont shut off... burnt ignition in the ecu..loleek! I hope it's not my ECU. It's weird, I put the key in turn it to on, the fuel pump primes, lights come on, turn it over, lights dim since the starter's sucking juice, sometimes it cranks sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it'll crank without de-pressing the clutch pedal, sometimes I have to turn it over while pushing it in, sometimes I have to push it all the way down and then start letting the pedal back up and then it turns over. I dunno. I've replaced the clutch relay, and checked my engine grounds, but I haven't troubleshot it much more than that.

oh its just wiring then....that was my assumption. My harness looks terrible. Scott told me that mine was the last they had their then wiring guy do (apparently now WiringSpecialties does their harnesses  would have been nice). It's pretty jacked up, I probably should have made them fix it or replace it, but we'll not get into that. I think I'm just going to try and fix the problem for now, and then have it either repaired or just get a new one.

lol...u should see the wiring harness i m doing too- probably from the same dude that they got rid off.

i dunno. i cant pin point coz i dont know, but i do know i have to fix it and its really an eye sore.

Dom, i dont see the issue with the clutch. u either go all out, or dont.

Sidenote:

I didn't get a clutch alignment tool with my Spec clutch. I borrowed one from a friend the first time, but 2 nights ago at 2AM, my tranny was still in the car as we were dropping the motor, so we were kinda in a bind.

I eyeballed it at first, then I used the KA transmission I had layin around and it did what I need it to.

So yeah, thank you Spec for NOT including an alignment tool.

Haha, we were gonna remove the bellhousing at first and just do it like that, but that became a looooong job so we just held the tranny in place.
