View Full Version : My attempt at photography
Scott (scottman) and I were bored yesterday. After having a few drinks, watching a soccer game, and chipping some golf balls onto the tennis court, we decided to go take some pictures. I don't really know a whole lot about photography, but I'm definately interested in learning. I was shooting with an Olympus 190 and a Sony Mavica MVC-CD1000. What do you guys think? Any suggestions?

just saw them on zilvia. I want a ground hog to be on my dash? lol. btw your front wheels are mounted on the wrong sides.
Wow, I didn't even notice that. I had my se wheels on the front for a long time b/c I needed new tires for the front z32 wheels. I didn't even think to tell the tire shop to make sure the unidirectional tires went on the correct wheels. Oh well, guess I'm gonna be running backwards tires for a while.

Nice pics man. Try playing with some other angles and maybe try not centering it all the time. You want to make it the focal point but be creative. Also maybe try getting up closer and you don't have to have the entire car in the shot. That is a really cool location!

^^^ Yeah to achieve the "photo shoot" look, you need some mildly crazy angles with up close shots. I really like the background though, good location.

haha fast and furious effect of blurriness..i like
Tell me about this rule of thirds. Like I said, I'm new to this and looking for advice.

The Rule of Thirds is a principle of composition used for centuries by artists and photographers. The underlying principle is easy to understand and use.Using The Rule of Thirds places the main subject off center and away from the center of the frame. As a result, photos can look more dynamic and interesting.
The Rule envisions two horizontal and two vertical lines trisecting an image with four intersecting points. You place your main subject where the lines intersect rather than centered in the frame. For example, placing the horizon on an upper or lower line helps create a well-composed landscape photo. For portraits, placing person where lines intersect vertically produces a more compelling photo.
A Rule of Thirds grid is built into some digital cameras. It can be turned on and viewed on the LCD. Use it as as a guide when taking a photos. If you don't achieve this layout just right with a camera, apply the principle when cropping an image.
