View Full Version : clutch = no pressure after motor swap

just got my motor in last night, and almost finished now..

wtf does that hose on top of the tranny go to ?? its a long rubber hose and has a metal fitting thing on the end and a place to bolt it to something ??

would that have anything to do with the clutch not having any pressure ??

you press in the clutch and its just pedal till your almost at the floor, just enough clutch to turn the car over...

i tried to bleed the clutch and it doesnt have enough pedal to get a good stream..

nope..

i press the clutch, and it doesnt spring back, just stays on the floor

clutch master cylinder line, follow it until it hit a box bellow near bottom by the slave cylinder, remove the line and connect directly to the slave cylinder...yes you may bend it carefully and hook it up straight there instead of hooking on to the box and then rerouting it back.
dont feel like explaining what it does or why its there or how to bleed the system with it. saves you time to bleed your clutch system.

the hose that on top of the tranny acts like a breather. put it back on the top bolt of the tranny.


ps: hook the end to the rubber line then to the slave cylinder...... common sense.....but just incase

so basically just bypass that box thing and run the hard line from teh clutch MC to the softline to the slave cyl ...

easy peasy...

Did you prep the master cylinder? Like.. fill it full of brake fluid? *not sure if theres a term for that*

Take a small bowl and put brake fluid in it, submerge the master cylinder and pump all of the air out of it. Then fill it full of fluid while it's under it, and try to keep all the fluid in it when you install it back into your car, so theres a lot less air in it.


That may be why you aren't building pressure.


I found this out after taking 7 hours to bleed my friends clutch -_-.

that line on the tranny is just a breather..
it can be one of two things as far as the clutch.

slave cylinder going bad
master cylinder going bad (happened to me)

Do what he says.. This made my life so much easier. That extra line is just a speed bleeder that Nissan put on there since they have a special too. Its useless to us and likes to catch air in the little box. Those hard lines actually bend pretty easily, just be careful and bend it slow.

When i put on a new slave cyl. we tried bleeding the clutch for an hour with little luck. After we removed the speed bleeder line it took about 10 minutes to bleed it and it was perfect... I found a writeup on how to do it. I'll post it up in the DIY section.

got it fixed today.. just bypassed the speed bleeder.. and now my clutch is better than ever !!!
