so i was coming home from killswitch on sat when it rained real hard. i hit a pothole that shook the car pretty good. i didn't see the hole due to the heavy rain and hail. i hit it going about 15-25mph

now, the day after, when i hit roughly 60-65 it vibrates the steering wheel and my gf says she feels teh vibration through her legs and even into her cheek on the pass. side.

i think my rim may be bent/broken, but didn't have much time to check on it sunday besides a visual inspection and it seemed circular still.

im taking it out to an alignment but what's the easiest way to figure out if its broken/bent on the inside.

Look at it??? If its bent you'll see it.

Just take off the wheel. And if you hit a pothole, chances are you threw off the alignment. Go have it checked. :)

^ yeah most likely knocked the wheel weight off and or just threw off the balance.

yea its probably your wheel balance. all my wheels are off balance and it shakes at 70, then it doesnta t like 80 and shakes around 90.

I did that and messed up my tie rod end... :(

get tein tie rods and tie rod ends. and have tyler install them if you dont want to worry about it.

then get an alignment. =D

I was getting a constant vibration at that same speed caused from a factory "tension rod" that's bushing burst(viscous fluid leaked out) caused from a large pot-hole.

I am sure your problem is w/ a thrown wheel weight, but it is worth noting.

Agreed. Deff not alignment tho. Your car may need alignment but bad alignment won't make the car shake at speed...

.. I don't know if I agree with that. I have gotten an alignment and then had my car drive without bouncing. Could have been coincidence though?

got the alignment and the guy said it aligned extremely quick.

and the shaking's gone, both from the steering wheel and pass. side.

thanks for all the input guys.

last time i hit a dip (literally, a dip, not a hole) i snapped a tension tod in half,
probably had something to do with the fact i was full lock ass out. and the front coilovers where as low as they could go, lol

well..if anything i'm changing my original plans of slamming my cars :)

just too many potholes/dips/holes around where i live as well as where i usually go.

I'd say that was due to wheel being mounted slightly off. Every time I took my old wheels off and put them back on it would get worse or better randomly... When he hit the pot hole it might have simply shifted the position of the wheel and when it was re mounted that fixed it. I think they were either not hub centric or just not very hub centric.

If camber is way out it may cause you to feel an out of round wheel more if the out of round portion is more on the inside or outside respectively but there are no adjustments that could cause or fix a shake unless maybe something was just extremely loose?

Did they re-balance the wheel as well? Just wondering.

i doubt it. free lifetime alignments at firestone. plus they did it near closing time, so i don't think they looked too closely at it.
