So.. Finally get my car running. Figured out it was a bad injector driver, fixed that.

But.. Now my ECU grounded itself to the case. Does anyone know who can fix this? I need it done asap. Like.. Tomorrow.

Yeah, I tried to just jump the connections and it seems to still work. So, if I could get this professionally repaired, I wouldn't have to shell out another 2k for this damn ECU.

how the hell did it ground itself to the case? personally... i think its trash. but i could be wrong... try an electorics repair place or something... doesnt look good at all. i really hope thats for a KA

... guess not

i hope that tuning system is truly bad ass. seems like its just been a shitload of trouble so far.

ya know, from what i can see, it only looks like 2, maybe 3 connections... find some low resistance wire and solder new connections.

Oh it is. I actually had it fixed and running. It was just the board sitting my car plugged up. Decided to put it back in the case, and immediately after I plugged everything back up, car didn't start. :(

It is only 2 connections actually. Thats why I think it can be fixed. But.. Where can I get wire like that. Possibly even the flat kind they use? Radio Shack maybe?

wow that thing is badass

no idea. id definately find someone who repairs any kind of electronics. and if it came down to it, you bet id do it myself... soldering and wire might be to much resistance though.. no idea. get the yellow pages out or something

Yep. Mine was badass. Now its a paperwieght. LoL...

But I'll see what I can find tomorrow. I'll update the thread in case anyone else has a problem like this.

yo, ill ask my instructor about it. im in electrical course right now. so maybe he'll be able to find out..... but just outa curiosity what caused it burn out like that? you maybe running too many volts, amps, or ohms through the paths that the electricity wants to take.... did you have a bad ground or anything? it prolly just couldn't take the amount that it was given and burned up... so if you replace the ecu.. it might just happen again. get a multimeter and let me know about the numbers about the ohms and volts and amps, and current. sorry, bout the long response... maybe this'll help...just throwing my ninjaness out there.

he said it grounded to the case.

DAsquintz
03-14-2008, 04:37 AM
maybe if you added another path for the electricity to flow through it might not take up so much resistance...... like adding another wire; or something....
eh, im just going to ask my instructor and see what he says....

It only burnt up because the green coating was peeled back on those connections, like that third one in the picture still is. So it grounded out to the case.

I noticed this when I was fixing the ECU, but didn't think about it. No idea why.. Just stupid.

eh, i say fuck it and replace it... but i know how you feel about spending another 2g's...........just make sure that the green shit isn't peeled back on the other one...

Hah! LoL.. I wouldn't have even posted this if the event wasn't next weekend. I just want to drive my car this time. I can send it back to London to have it repaired, but that obviously won't take less then a week.

Tyler

no not radioshack.

just use solder.
solder the connection and make a line you can leave the solder loose

we do have jumper wire though

omgah what did you do?

hellfire
03-14-2008, 06:08 AM
I put a layer of electrical tape down across the entire back of the board. Then pulled strands of wire out of 14g wire. Laid that down and soldered the connections. Put another layer of tape above that.. And.. Viola!

i was getting anxious for tyler to stop it spinning

like an 8 year old, who KNOWS the mother fucker is hot, but wants to be 100% sure. Maybe I should wait awhile before getting a top mount turbo... lol

thats a really really good idea.

i touched my cpu fan when it was at 5500 rpm......

thermaltake venus 12

it cut two holes in my thumb.

and i got blood all over the inside of my case
