I have a sohc s13 that im haveing a problem with. My car last night started running bad. It idles great but when i go to take off it has a loss of power and sounds like its driving under water or like an old vw bug. Not really sure how to explain it but i just now its not running to well. I changed the fuel filter thinking maybe it was clogging up but that didn't help. I took out my fuel pump to check my tank to see if i had trash it was clean.I also put new plugs in last weekend but i wouldn't think that would have anything to do with it. Any advise would be great.

Sounds like ignition to me. Did you pull the codes from your ecu?
Check your mafs also. Have you checked your air filter?

Check your VC gasket and see if you are getting oil on your spark plugs. That causes a bad connection with a symptom like you are describing.

I checked the plugs they seem fine i checked for oil there good. Not sure how to check ecu for codes. Could it be and intake leak or something i mean it basically happened in a short period of time i parked it went to start it up and drive it and this is what happens??? What about a bent valve? What exactly are the symptoms? Would it smoke? would it idle funny? Mine idles great and doesn't smoke at all.

I would double-check to make sure all the plug wires are completely connected. Sometimes when you disconnect them, they are really hard to get them to re-connect correctly. When I got my first 240, I did a compression check. I pulled the wires and they literally came apart. In other cars I pulled the wires and if they have any age on them, just taking them off and putting them back on can make a semi-good wire start to crap out. Miatas are notorious for the VW Bug noise when the wires go out, even when the wires look perfect!

I just pulled all my plugs again and they seem fine. The wires are practically brand new. what about cheap plugs could that be a problem?

Well, I have heard to only run NGKs in Nissans. They are less than $2 a plug for the V-gap ones at Advance Auto.

yea but like if u just say u need ngk 240sx spark plugs there gana say its not in stock. so you have to give them the part number. let me check my garage to see if i still have the part number. give me 5 minutes. dont go to autozone yet

could it be just a sensor? How dirty is the throttle body? Plate not opening enough?

Any intake leaks? Vacuum? i doubt these cas you'd be boggin at idle.

This is what i thought also. i do believe i have a intake leak. But i believe ive had it for a while and can't figure out why it would just now be causing a problem? Im looking for an stock intake tube and boot on the throttle body if anyone has one. my boot is ripped and i have an aftermarket intake which doesnt seem to fit my car all that well.

oh yea if that boot has a hole then its probably why you're boggin. hah/

i think its those two sensors that your ecu spit out codes for.

replace them.

tyler probably has the parts.

No injector leak. Fixed a couple of vacuum leaks and found #4 injector connector not making good contact. Made a good connection, and running like a champ.
