View Full Version : Install Day / Meet @ Tora Motorsports - Sat, May 5th
Its time for the second Install Day / Meet at Tora Motorsports! The first one turned out to be an awesome meet.
Once again we will have music all day with a live DJ. We will also be grilling hamburgers and hot dogs.
If you are going to be installing something make sure to make it around noon so we have enough sunlight to complete everything... Also, bring your own tools and everything you need to do the work. I will bring my tools just in case...
Date: Saturday, May 5th
Time: Noon - Sundown
Location: Tora Motorsports located off of white rd right in front of Southern Poly Tech
350 White Ave SE
Marietta, GA 30060
Directions are very easy. On 75 get off at Exit 263. Go west on the loop and right after you pass Cobb Parkway there is this very small road on the right called white. Turn there, and its on the left just after the Dong Bang food mart.
If you are eating or having drinks we ask for a $5 donation to help cover the cost... If you have something you'd like to bring to throw on the grill like a steak or something feel free.

Call them, find out. It sucked that they scheduled a nissan meet the same day as our install day... Rather not do that again.
Sunday would work as well. Input on that?
If not I'll just schedule it for May 5th.

I'd say subframe bushings are just as important if not more than all the rest. They hold your rear end on. If theyre shot they can change the trust angle fo your car which kills your handling and makes the ride feel like poo. You can either get the bushings from mmr-direct.com which are really stiff plast ones, or you could go with aluminum. I LOVE my aluminum ones but they are kinda noisy. I don't mind at all tho.

shit.. its kinda hard to outrun the radio..
if it came to that..
yeah thats true
whenever i used to run in my 5 series i would takeoff and turn off immediatly... then dissapear...
to another county ect ect
that was in cherokee county though the cops dont know how to drive and the ratio of roads to cops is much less up there than it is down here. so if they radio'd in it would have to be luck that a cop was like up ahead or something.
one thing funny i did in my green bmw 325i i was on some back road in cherokee county and i passed a cop doing like 80 he was stopped... it was dark and i hauled down the road another 200 yards over some hils n stuf... and i turned around and drove right passed the cop. he was going too fast to notice me or something it was the only way i woulda gotten away from him cuz there were trafifc lights ahead and it worked =D
i wouldnt reccomend trying this in marietta ... lol street lights everywhere

Tora Motorsports? I have never heard of it. Do they specialize in 240's? I missed this one but would like to make it next time.
They do a LOT of work on 240's and are good at it... It was previously called finishline but is under new ownership. We're havin another one May 5th so check out the g2g's forum.

That is an ok price for the poly bushing kit. I'd look around on ebay to compare prices. My kit came with the steering rack bushings but it doesn't look like that one does... Look around and see if you can find one that comes with it but it may just be that the s13 kit comes with it and the s14 kit doesn't...

We're tryin to do them every month or two. This will be our second one. Its a meet too so you don't need to be installing something to come...
explain a whole lot plz
I just can't have everyone pulling coolers out of their trunk and gettin slurry... If you wana drink bring a few and be responsible. I can't keep track of who's drinking and how old everyone is theres too much goin on.
As long as we keep it to just drinkin a couple beers or if you're riding with someone then we won't have a problem. Its a shop liability thing.
If we wana get slurry, we can head to my place afterwards and throw down! :) I'm planning on doing this so anyone is welcome to join!
thats straight. Im probabally gonna show up. I wont be driving so is it ok if I get slizzzzzzzzzzzzzzard?

I'm excited about this meet... It will be awesome! A lot of work has been done to the shop since the last meet. We even have a ps2 up front with GT3 :).
oh, and is the shop gonna be shut down for us or are they gonna be conducting bidness as usual? are you guys working out in the parking lot or are they letting you use bays? How many people showed up last time?
The shop will be conducting business as normal. We will have the parking lot just like last time. It worked out well last time since its a fairly large lot. Last time we had 25 or so 240's show up...
thats cool. im not a disrespectful person. If they're doing business Im not gonna walk around with a beer glued to my hand or start actin a fool or anything like that. I'll just hang out in the back and do the damn thing. How many people confirmed this time around??
Havent been keeping count but looks like a decent #! It'll be fun if we have 10 or 100 people... For the first part of the day the last time (we started at 10am) we only had about 8 people or so and had a blast! :).

Who has installed SPL full aluminum rear subframe bushings before? I've read several write ups but what tools do I really need in order to pop out the metal inserts after burning out the old rubber bushing? I can borrow a sawzall if I need one but I'd rather not chance damaging the subframe at all. I've heard that done right it really shouldn't take that long. I might also slap in the VLSD if I can get these axle's rebuilt by then.

You need dry ice or put them in the freezer over night. When we did flip we bought some dry ice and stuck em in there for like 30 min. TO remove the inserts we took a hack saw to them. 10-15 minutes per side. Not too bad. and flip is really good at taking out and putting the sub frame in. lol

hah, I've done it enough lol. Make sure to bring a LARGE hammer to smash them in. They will NOT just slide right in... Also maybe a piece of wood to put on top of them so you don't damage them while smashing. You'll also want something like a punch with a point to hammer in between the subframe and the metal jacket to get it out easier.
A sawzall will work great, its faster but you have more of a chance of cutting too far since it cuts a lot faster. You just have to be careful.
