SMELLS LIKE ROTTEN EGG!!! HELP!

need help!!! apparently i relocated the battery to the back, drove it for about 3 hour and it started to heat up and smell. i check the ground, it got good ground and check the charge on it which is 14.7v; not normal!!! can u guys tell me why is it over charging???? or something???? :screwy:

Naw 14.7v is actually dead on if you checked it with the car running. Alternators put out between 14.4 and 14.7v

kool!, well in that case if that not the over charging issue then why is my battery overheating and smelling??? could it be the battery itself? b/c i bought a brand new optima redtop battery.

What did you use to relocate the battery, was it a kit or something you put together? Also, how well is it grounded? Did you make sure to scrape any paint and what not off the grounding point?

id used a 2 gauge wire and the ground is perfectly grounded(also scrape off the paint for better ground)

if it smells it is bad already that means the cells are goning to die...and alternators should put out between 13.5 and 15 volts

BATTERY ACID IS MADE FROM SULFURIC ACID AND YES AN OPTIMA CAN SMELL LIKE A ROTTEN EGG MINE WENT BAD ALSO. JUST BECAUSE IT IS SEALED AND A DRY CELL DOESNT MEAN IT CANT SMELL LIKE A ROTTEN EGG. I HAVE SEEN PLENTY GO BAD I USED TO SELL THEM WHEN I WORKED IN A PARTS STORE.

I have this egg timer. It doesn't smell like eggs though.
Boiled eggs and hot sauce smell bad when it comes out your butt the next day.
