Anyone try this tire?
It is really cheap, but the tirerack user rating on it is really good.
Cameron.

Duke, only way to go is Federal SS-595.
or Federal Runway-916. those 2 are 2 of the cheapest most used tire in the 240 world. at least on nico..

If you're going to do any kind of street driving.. I suggest you get something worthwhile.
Don't get no shitty tires for street/daily driving.
Get something quality for street.
Get something shitty for drift.
Get something quality for drift, if you're rich.

245/45 ZR17 is $93 each
General UHP is $87 each
Kumho SPT is $97 each
I am running spts at the moment and I really like that tire, but it is the difference between a $420 tire bill and a $344 tire bill.
I know 1 person that has these tires and he said they are stick OK, but they last forever he said. He said he rode on 1 set of them for about 20,000.
The kumhos that I am rolling on now are lasting quite well. I have about 5,000 on them now and they still have ~2\3 tread left, and that is after 2 autox events and me raping them on a daily basis on back roads.

595 is rated 3 in the top tires for drifting circuit in Japan, and everyone ive talked to on nico about them said they are awesome on the street. even YokotaS13 repps em.. and hes hard to please when it comes to tires/wheels.

Tirerack is just as cheap as tiresavings.
I dont drift though, I grip...
babowc
02-29-2008, 02:39 AM
Umm...
Drift =/= street
You have to take into account in street driving, you experience FAR different conditions than from drifting.
If you grip, you're looking for the WRONG tires.

I hear good things about the federals... never rocked em' myself.
I had Generals on the rear for drift once... I believe they chunked on me if I remember correct.
Cameron.

i just posted that they are not low quality tires. just quoting something. not saying to use them for drift.
I run Kumho ecsta AST's on mine, they are fairly cheap.

How many miles did they last with the drifting?
I might as well be drifting autox cas half the time I dont have 100% traction anyway lol

I honestly have never calculated mileage on any tires I have ever owned haha...
They lasted multiple events on my car up front and gave my sister about a year of use on the street. she doesn't drive too too much though. I finally killed them w/ shitty alignment.

I am on Falken RT's atm and the Kumho's were better in the cold and the rain... got a lil' bit greasy when they got really hot but a lot of tires do that do well in the cold it seems.

i work at a tire shop. The UHP's kick ass... they're rated higher or the same as the toyo t1r in all aspects. my buddy runs them on his 240 and swears by them. They stick pretty well.

I know a bunch of Audi guys that have run General Exclaims, and for runabout getting around town "quickly" and in weather conditions, they held up great for the price.
