ok, Im building up another KA for my car
its from a 98 240, the question I have...

CAN SOMEONE HELP ME WITH TIMING
its a pain in the ass, the chains that I have only have one mating mark on each. So its a pain. Can anyone tell me (when the mating mark is touching the mating mark on the idler pulley)(Upper timing chain, the two row one) how many chain links are there in between the mating mark on the left cam sprocket and how many to the right cam sprocket.

OR, beacuse i suck at explaining, can anyone post up a pic of the upper timing chains on and lined up and all..

yup, i have an FSM but it doesn't tell me what I need to know

I need a clear picture so I can count the chain links on the upper chain from each mating point to each mating point, i do not believe the FSM picture has the accurate amount of chain links...

correct me if im wrong though, lol

im pulling it apart to check it for issues before i drop it in my car

And are you sure that even if i get the mating marks wrong, I can still adjust the distributor and the motor will work fine...sounds weird to me.

the marks have to be right
it controls when when the exhaust valves and intake valves open and close
the marks show how they interact
ill just open it
wipe it all off
and take pics.
if i take a high res pic can you tell by that? or do i need to do anything else?

I just need to see all the mating marks on the upper timing chain
(where the chain mating mark meets the Cam sprocket mating marks)

aight well that will be next weekend. i need to fix my valve cover gasket its leaking * lol
so ill pull that off and take some pics.
do i need to rotate the engine till i see marks?
ill just take a ton of pics if i dont see any marks lol
